Hi all I just arrived in BKK last night, but had a few issues with current place I'm staying, barely able to sleep and so I'm hoping to get last minute leads on somewhere I can stay near Siam Sq for ideally under 10k a week or 25k a month starting today / tomorrow. I am only here for short term (1 month max) so hope to find something. This would really help me out right now so appreciate anyone reading this in the area who might have some suggestions or know of anything. Thanks in advance.

Pay what you can afford and what you think is reasonable, the price police will get over it.

You can see why western economies have been headed straight downhill for a decade. Westerners will spend two or three times as much as they need to, and if anyone tells them otherwise they'll angrily defend their right to blow money.

Quite often the words "Pay what you can afford" get brought across like some kind of excuse to justify somehow the fact that some fellow monger paid more than the going rate for a certain service.

"Pay what you can afford" implies that only because you can afford to do so, you should pay more that the next guy in order for you to get the same thing. That is like saying that the guy moving around town on public transport stops by the burger king and gets a menu for about 6 euro, then a BMW pulls over and the guy driving it goes in to get the same menu and pays 18 euro for it, and that supposed to be alright because "he can afford it".

This concept is full of shit, as you might have noticed.

Safe for a few exceptions, everybody can afford paying 6000 baht to a hookie. Everybody who is reading this anyways. Everybody who has paid an airfare from the western world to Thailand. It won't get you bankrupt to give 6000 baht away, would it? No, it wouldn't.

Contrairly to what the expression "pay what you can afford" would try to make believe, there is no pride in overpaying for anything, anywhere. It is unfair, morally bankrupt and it only is the result of a service provider trying to take advantage (successfully) of the customer.

It doesn't make you look good, it makes you look like a gullible fool.

It is inherent in women nature and expecially developed in hookers (if you haven't noticed already) , that they will try and get away with whaterer they can; whatever you, as a man, let her get away with.

This particular fellow monger, bless his heart, has mentioned how the asking price of 6000 has been brought down to 4000 and that's what they both agreed on. Later, the hookie, not having anything to lose from trying anyways, somehow talked him apart from an extra 2000 when the agreed-upon 4000 (which is already an hefty price) was already in her purse. Hell, she even tried to get a laptop and a trip to Hong kong out of him, and sadly he hasn't mentioned anything regarding how worthy she was of all she asked for!

I guess that is the kind of experience more or less everybody gets to go trough once or twice, and one talks in his fellow monger's best interest when trying to point out the ins and outs of a business transaction that could have gone better.

Just because you have got some money it doesn't make it cool for people to take advantage of you, and this is not about what you can or cannot afford, it's about balance.

We all already pay a premium price for hookies compared to the locals and probably rightly so, but to pay even more than any other foreigner pays is, simply put, a fool tax.

Thanks goddess I can afford spending 500 or a thousand euro in a day on hookies like I do in FKKs, but that doesn't mean I would give anywhere near that kind of money to a Thai bar girl.
