dev.[/quote]thanks for the info. some entrepreneurial types should be planning the post-mambo fortaleza garota experience now. when help went down in rio, there were already plenty of other options which have continued to thrive. fortaleza? not much else besides the forro mambo, zipi, and (to a lesser extent) other bars near forro. not sure why a prive scene at least, or a terma setup, couldn't survive. i'm sure the authorities are worried about drugs, **** possibilities, etc, but they may let an official scene live on with a more formal process for setting up the businesses (and probably paying officials in some format or another).

Yes, there are. The last years the number of pro´s have increased.

Canoa is a very small place. Everything happens on the main street in less than a dozen bars/"clubs" stretched out on 150 metres. Everybody knows who f*cks around with whom.

In Canoa you have four types of girls (with "local" I mean girls from Canoa, Aracati and Mossoró):
1. Girls with no interest in f*cking with gringos.
2. Local regular girls who chase gringos without charging for sex.
3. Local girls and Fortaleza girls who are plain pro's.
4. Local girls who f*cks around, sometimes they do it for free and sometimes charging.

If you're a newbie it might be a bit confusing in the beginning to differ which girls are pro's and which ain't. If you observe the action for a while it becomes quite easy to point out the pro´s. However, don't worry. The Canoa-pro's draws to new arrived gringos like flies on shit.

Start the evening in Bar Todo Mundo or Canoa Central and later move down to Gruta.
Fridays and Saturdays are best. During the week Canoa can be quite dead.

Note 1: Canoa is propably one of the easiest places in Brazil to get laid for free. I have never wasted a centavo in Canoa to have sex.
Note 2: Be careful of who you bring home at night. It's not unusual with girls coming from the neighbouring cities to Canoa, on the weekends, with only bad intentions. When you sleep they might clean out your room, use Boa Noite Cinderela or have a couple of amigos who will rob you.
Note 3: I've been coming to Canoa for the last 20 years and only had problem once. Actually this year. Two girls followed me home to the house I rented. We had a nice threesome for free. After the girls left I noticed my phone was missing. After some confusion and some threats from their scumbag male friends I got the phone back with assistance from the local PM.

Good luck asking the taxidrivers in Canoa. There are no taxis in Canoa (only mini-vans/topics going from Canoa to Aracati). The place is so small that you walk from one end to the other in 5-10 minutes.

Just to add a liitle info club Mucuripe which is the Friday night spot in Fortaleza does have a pro-scene the women are a higher class than what you would find in Mambo or Zipi. The action is not in your face though with this being a regular club. Most of the working girls hangout on the main entrance area until the disco side opens at 2:00am. If anyone wants to check it out this Friday let me know I'm always looking for partners on the hunt.

last sunday night, in front of zip's during peak time, a bp police suv was in front with several officers doing nothing, forro mambo downstairs was closed for renovation repair, it was said. the temporary closure it was said was on account of code violations. no reason to care about veracity. usual scene upstairs, thin talent pool with best choices showing up after 1:30. free entry for guys 11:30-12:30a. m. includes drink. 2-story place across the street was closed on this night.

I wouldn't expect too much of the future of the GP-action in Iracema, It has gone down the last years. If you look even further back, let say twenty years, it has fallen enourmous. Iracema used to have one of the greatest night-life in Brazil. Deck bar etc... The mixture was regular girls, pro's and piranhas. An excellent mixture.

Now we only have a small ho-crossing with a few bars and discos. It will be worse. The new Aquáro in Iracema and more cleaning up. More places will close down for sure.

Fortaleza isn't happy to be a sex-monger destination for horny europeans (read italians).

However, I don't see no need to worry. There will still be plenty of gringos and even more girls wanting to earn money. Fortaleza have plenty of regular girls and lots of girls who want to sell their goods. I'll continue to have my pic-up's on the beach.

There is an aquarium coming to Iracema and talk of cleaning up. What you experienced today doesn't mean it's there tomorrow. I hope it stays forever, but that's what I hoped for with "Help" too.

There are places to find women in this town as elsewhere. What you are saying today doesn't help anyone looking for them.

I'm reading these stories about bars being closed down in Fortaleza and Policia blitz's checking all the gringos in Iracema etc. No news.

Fortaleza is one of my, let say, five favourite cities in Brazil. I spend a lot of time in Fortaleza every year, partly business and partly (most part) holiday. Fortaleza is excellent. Because of the ho-crossing in Iracema? No?

I always enjoyed Iracema. The night scene. Sitting down at the Reggae bar, have a couple of cheap 600 ml cervejas, watching the street hustlers running around, the pick-pocket guys acting like vultures, the crack-ho's running after gringos, the cigarette guys with their boxes, the vulture-girls on the street calling for clients to their bar/restauarant, the midget on the corner calling for clients and trying to sell his "cheap tickets" to Pirata, the Polícia Militar passing by ignoring all the scum, the brazilian hillbillies passing by in their giant cars with loudspeakers blasting and later on seeing the working girls arriving.

First comes the ugly ones, the chubby girls, built like refrigerators and without no necks and with heads squared like TV's. Then comes the *unmentionable ones*, who still manage to fool gringos. Later on comes the hord of normal working pro's. Finally comes the top-class pro's. They enter Forró Mamboo and comes out quicker than I can take a [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140][CodeWord140][/url], hand on hand with a client.

It's not only the pro's that offers the entertainmet. You have the italian old-timers, old guys sitting down for a beer with their friends, "arguing" in italian about god knows what. Later on arrives their young fellow country-men on scooters or in taxis. Quite often getting robbed even before getting out of their taxis.

Iracema is fun, it's entertainment. However if you wan't to buy sexual services, make a good choice. Don't choose one of the hardcore's. Have patient and take your pick very carefully.

I spend a couple of weeks in Fortaleza every year. I get my share of p*ssies, but not mainly in Iracema. The ho-crossing in Iracema means nothing to me.

Fortaleza have much more to offer:
1. The non-pro night scene is very good. Enough said of that part. The less gringos the better. Sorry!
2. Centro. The centro, daytime, is filled with non-pro girl from the suburbs.
3. The beaches. IMO the best place for picking up-pro's at a bargain price or non-pro girls.
4. Your girlfriend.

Maybe option 4 needs an explanation? There are thousands of women in Fortaleza with boyfriends abroad. These guys are paying their GF's regulary. They don't have to work in Iracema. They can enjoy life. If they can have fun with a guy that they enjoys they will.

Having sex with women that are married/engaged with their boyfriends abroad, or working, is very convenient. The boyfriends are just, sugar-daddies or cows to be milked. My favourite girls are actually not the ones with italian boyfriends, but the ones with french boyfriends. At one visit in Fortaleza I had four fuck-friends, all with french boyfriends. Thanks, France.

So my advice is: widen your horizons and get laid for free in Fortaleza. Another option would be getting a GF in Fortaleza, support her and let me have a go at her. :D

Chaps, hoping to go to fortaleza in April and wanted to know where are the best places during the day and the evening to pick up the ladies.

Also which hotels do you recommend. Needed to know also can you communicate with the locals if you don't know portuguese?
