TRL is been going down hill for a long time anyway, I am surprise it last this long, this is just a overprice place for newbie expat anyway and I only been there once 4 yr ago and never went back, there many cheaper and better place to go than there.

Returned from annual Shanghai trip.
Time invested in Asian Friendfinder got me a nice date, but not worth pursuing. I must be getting soft in older age to not want to break her heart (though her pics were a lot better).
First night. CL order in. Girl was NOT 22 (said they all were.). Place is run by "Angela" who answers the emails, and my girly, Cindy, was probably 30, but pretty good service and amazing rack and nipples about an inch long. So-so night. Don't recommend Amanda who runs the Craigslist ad solely on her misrepresentation.
Hit the saunas another night. Buo Duo. Though I arrived at midnight. Looked like it has closed or moved.
Tian Hao. Arrived even later, and it has gone downhill. One girly to choose from, good service, but dingy surroundings and I'm sure that was mold on the pillow case.
TRL was full of Phillipinos and Thais. Not my thing in mainland do that gig when in Hong Kong.
Zapata's my usual haunt for freebies was filled with expats and very few ladies at the door. Left both nights empty handed (hence trip to sauna and call to Craig gal).
All in all Shanghai a little quiet for my tastes. Agreed I should have tried Sarcosa, and if I wasn't so tired, I would have gone to KTV that is on thrid floor kitty-corner from Sheraton Hongqiao. They have a small walk up bar like in a hotel, and you can ask to see lineup for a takeout. I prefer this to dealing with streetside touts who no doubt go there and other like it for their supply.
Flew to SHZ. Off to CP and DG where action improved considerably.

Recently I had two sessions in Sarcosa. The place seems as lively as ever. In both time I had to wait for almost an hour. The girl told me they have more girls than rooms.

Word I got from some of the gals is that all the bars on Tongren will be closed 15 NOV. It is my understanding that at least the owners of Manhattan have plans to open/operate another establishment in another location. It seems they are keeping the location close to the vest at this time. This part is speculation, but probably because they haven't finalized all the necessary "documents". I don't know exactly when the new place will be in operation. I don't think it will take long, because all the Filipina, Thai, Viet gals will have to go home if they don't have someplace to work.
I haven't heard a thing about Judy's or if the closing of Tongren will affect Malone's as well. Stay tuned!!

Bar strip is on the doorstep of the Eton Hotel.

Personally I go to TRL EVERY night I am in Shanghai - maybe 20 nights per year.
Indded I know many guys from Australia, USA, England, Germany indeed many European countries who live in Shanghai or who visit regularly and who are ONLY interested in picking up girls in a BAR TYPE atmosphere.

A week ago Saturday I went out on the town in Shanghai. (One side note: next time I fly into PVG, I will take the maglev train so as to reduce the time I spend with a kamikaze Shanghai taxi driver.)
Coming down Nanjing West Lu, one the left -hand side you have Manhattan, Judy's and several other places. I don't know most of these places, but there seemed to be a lot of people in Manhattan, behind closed doors. A year ago, I had a great time with a couple of girls at Chicago (and even got a quick good-night smooch from one.) One of the good things about that place was the go-go dancer, though there seemed to be none on duty Saturday night. Overall, business seemed a bit slow.
I turned and went down Tongren Lu in the opposite direction, toward Malone's. One the way, I got propositioned by one drug dealer, a cute 3-year old street urchin boy, and a street walker.
There was a pretty fun party going on in Malone's. There was a Filipino cover band called Art 6 playing, which seemed to have a fondness for the music of Bon Jovi and Guns & Roses (they played a little too much Bon Jovi, in my opinion.) The crowd was a mixture of many expats (who seemed mostly British), along with some people on dates and Filipinas. There were also a couple ladyboys at the bar. There was one really cute girl who came in, probably drunk, with a big stuffed animal and accompanied by a doofus with a man-purse. I felt a bit sorry for her. Qing Daos were a whopping 45 RMB! The Filipinas at the bar were not particularly flirty, though a couple of regular girls seemed to be. I did, though, get propositioned by two working girls while I was there.
It was a pretty bad scene when I left, about 2:30 a.m. A pair of streetwalkers propositioned me between Malone's and Nanjing Lu. One pushed her large boobs up to get me to look while she made a clumsy attempt to stick her hands in my pockets. Towards the other bars, the cute little kid was still there, having mastered the phrase "Give me money!" Although I had contributed earlier, he followed me aggressively for quite a while. When I reached the bar strip on TRL, most of the bars had pretty well cleared out. There were a couple of streetwalkers out in front that were also very aggressive. One latched onto me and attempted an aggressive price negotiation, and I had climb into a taxicab to flee.
What is it with Shanghai? The next day on the Nanjing Lu pedestrian zone, I was besieged by the typical vendors of CDs/watches/bags/t-shirts. On three occasions, girls struck up conversations with me (I'm not irresistibly attractive). When I told one I wouldn't buy her a beer, she turned on her heel and left. (I am familiar and quite leery of getting caught in a Shanghai teahouse/art student scam.) Another girl was cute behind thick glasses, and I should have worked her harder. By the end, I was amused by the female attention I was getting.
