The current thread in this forum has got me wondering. Being a rookie when it comes to forays south of the border I am wondering what is considered normal rate? I don't look for anything to out of the ordinary, if I could find BBBJ with CIM that would be great; I understand that makes the little harder to find and of course more expensive but what should my ceiling be as to not set a new cost precedent? For a night at HK (not including room price) what is a good amount to bring? Someone a few posts back mentioned spending more pesos than dollars?

Last night I was drinking in HK near the main stage with a couple bros from out of town. It was very nice meeting these bros, nice, upright, smart, cool people.

After sucking down 4 Bohemias, we ordered Azul's BOGOF rib eye steaks with a HK's voucher. The mesero delivered the steaks uncut, without bread, tortillas or any condiment. He suggested we cut them up with the plastic knives. Damn stupido. I had to convince him take them back to be cut up. By the time he brought them back, they had turned cold. It was dark in the club. I could not see what I was eating. The steaks were much smaller than before and a lot fattier; tasted terrible cold. Damn. Every time the meseros would bring uncut steaks and expect us to eat them with teeth and claws in the messiest ways like beasts. Only a few experienced meseros know how to instruct the chef to do it right. Then I stared having a rumbling stomach, which turned into full-blown diarrhea when I got home. It was definitely food poisoning by the steaks. My wingman ate only 2 bites so he was not effected.

It ruined my night. I am pissed off. Will have a talk with Azul's owner next week. Meanwhile the rib eyes deal and HK is not worth the risk. Order other snacks like pizza, fried shrimp ect to be safe.

The waiter probably dropped you steak to the floor. Picked it up and wiped it off with his shirt, then back to you. BTW, iodine helps I think with the stomach.

We called back down and a mesero brought up a steak knife, the weird thing was he would not leave without the knife we had to do all the cutting while he waited to get the knife back.

At the time I was with gringa #7 and we fought a lot. We always joked that of course they wouldn't want to leave an unsupervised knife in our custody due to the volatile relationship we had.

Now that I think about it they probably don't want to bring a dangerous weapon into HK either.

BTW, the food there is pretty good, but it was cold during my last 2 meals. I had them microwave it so it was edible.

You also stated that you always order your beers from the bartenders and you nevertip them. That can only mean one thing, you're a "marked man " in that establishment. Undoubtedly every mesero, everybody who works in Hong Kong and Restaurant Azul's knows who you are and they know that you don't tip. That means 100% guarantee that they purposely did something to your food. Not only that, if you hang out in HK as often as you claim they've probably been "fixing up" your food for a long time.

I know the bar restaurant industry very well and a patron who comes in and is known for being a bad tipper or a non-tipper is 100% guaranteed to get his food spit on, dropped on the floor, or use your own imagination. The meseros probably light up with joy when you tell them you're ready to order food from the kitchen. I promise you they have a nickname for you.

Captain my advice to you is don't ever order anything from that kitchen again. You personally as an individual, it simply would be bad for your health to risk eating from there, knowing that they most likely are doing some nasty shit to your food every time you order from Azul's.

Anyone know a good place to find apartments for rent for 30 days at a time in Tijuana?

I was sitting with a HK girl one night. She ordered a plate of Azul's shrimps in a vinaigrette.

The beefy mesero brought the plate with a lot fewer shrimps than I know. So he helped himself to the shrimps on the way over. He laid the plate down on the table then picked up the plumbest shrimp, dropped it into his mouth, chomped on it and smiled broadly. HK 's meseros are mostly dumb, rude and sleazy.

Yep. They probably dropped the steaks in the alley, wiped them off with the seat of his pants and served them in HK. Damn.

I will never order Azul's steaks in HK again. Just take UBER to Mr. Pampas and have their delicious meat with wine.
