My adventure with Ped West
Comments on PedWest from a member on a different site:
"OK, so I went down this late afternoon to see what this "pedwest" nonsense was all about, and I agree that it is a rinky-dink engineering job that is pretty lame because the fucking Viet Cong could have built a better walkway out of bamboo and old tires.
But to the point on how to find the new pedestrian west exit out of Mexico, it is simple to locate if you are walking out of the zone.
Basically the entrance to the walkway is positioned right along the raised dirt access road alongside the Tijuana river, so wherever you are at in the zone, just walk to the large silver arch at the intersection of Revolution and Calle Primera (also known as Articulo 123 or First street for Gringos).
Once you are standing at the large arch on Revo and Calle Primera you will want to walk down the hill of the pedestrian walkway which there is a 7-11 convince store at the mouth of the pedestrian walkway, so just start walking downward along the wide concrete walkway that has little shops on either side of it for about 200 yards until you come to a traffic light.
Cross the street to continue along the pedestrian walkway which will have some large blue signs saying USA with an arrow pointing the way, until you come to another traffic light and the policia station to your left.
Cross the street following the large blue USA signs with the arrows pointing the way, and you will enter into a little plaza with shops on both sides of it which in front of you in about 75 yards in will be the 3 story ramp and stairs that you will have to climb up to arrive at the mouth of the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Tijuana river that has a little raised booth with glass windows where the Tijuana policia have their lookout towers to spot trouble, or Gringos with lots of money in their pockets for them to steal.
As you walk about half way across the pedestrian bridge that can be lined with beggars, rateros, opportunistic Tijuana policia who are sizing you up for a robbery while you are enjoying the fragrant odor of raw sewage from the Tijuana river below, you will see on your left hand side a square tunnel entrance that is comprised of chain link fence, green wind deflection material, wooden planks lashed together with spit and duct tape, and whatever was left over after the workers stole all the good shit to use on their own houses out in Otay Mesa.
You are not going to like the very long walk through this tunnel type of an enclosure that is probably 1/2 mile long from the entrance to the walking tunnel to the new pedwest facility especially if you are wearing high heels, pulling a wheeled suitcase, are using a cane to walk, have sore ankles, have difficulty walking on uneven surfaces, etc, because the walkway in the tunnel is beyond fucked up, so much so that on the very first day it opened it was already getting bad reviews from the locals and the media. ".
OK after my fun with my favorite chicas I went to Segunda to catch the ruta to Linea. No problem. The drop off is fucked up. Construction. Across from old Mc Donalds. So I follow signs to USA. Signs well placed. Follow through the plaza up to the Ped bridge to go over Tijuana river. I was going in circles. I stay at Enva. I would of been WAY better NOT taking the ruta to the Linea. If I just walked from Enva to the bridge it would only of taken 5 minutes. At top of bridge next to the Mexican restaurant with the Menu on the wall you enter this construction tunnel. WHAT A CLUSTERFUCK! Seemed like a 1/2 mile walk! Along side of the river, in this contraption! At the Mexican flag on the Mexican building you decend a spiral walkway to the turnstyles. You enter the building and go to the signs for you. Sentri, Ready, and General. NO HANDICAP LINE, I see the agents on the right. At 4 pm there was 8 agents and.
THREE of us in the building! At this point I don't see anyone using this entry. You exit across from H&M at the Las Americas Mall. I needed to buy one of my chicas something at the mall, so no big deal. I think I will use the ped east to enter USA tomorrow because I don, t wait long in the Handicap lane / except for the able bodied assholes that cut in EVERY time I go. Some get a crack across the leg with my cane when they try to get by me! Yes I AM AN ASSHOLE! But no one cuts in front of me! LOT longer walk but absolutely no wait at this time. I would like to know the wait time at Ped East (old entry) at Sunday 4-5 pm.
The long gone Hong Kong Dragon is a Pokestop
Unfortunately the Pokemon Go craze has also hit south of the border. A few of the escorts I know as well as some of my female friends in Tijuana are all playing. I was wondering if the craze has managed to creep into Zona Norte, and if so was wondering what sort of Pokemon would be there? (LOL).
Yeah, we were playing it with the girls in HK on Friday night after the soccer match. Then we had the great idea to leave HK, drive around the Playas de Tijuana and look for Pokemon while drinking Black Label straight from the bottle.
Good times.
Tijuana Visit. Looking for a wingman
I haven't been to Tijuana in probably 5 or 6 years. I used to go about twice a month, but have not been in the area for a long time. I'm planning a trip down from OC either tomorrow evening or Wednesday evening, and would like to find somebody to buddy up with. It's always been more fun to go with someone in the past, and it sounds like there have been a lot of changes over the past few years.
