Anybody used the business lounge at MNL. Flying PAL 23:30. Decent food? Relatively comfortable? Any pos / neg?
Appreciate.
As you would expect of a PAL lounge the offering was rather spartan. I too had a late night flight back to BNE. I recall I had a meal from the Filipino style buffet. Standard drinks in the fridge. Was pretty well all help yourself.
One good thing is that the lounge is well located for the Australia departures.

Appreciate.
Well, walked thru, smelled funny, hotter than the terminal. Nothing good to eat. Walked out.

Appreciate.
No comment on the PAL lounge but the Wings Lounge in T3 is well worth the 1 K if anyone has a long stopover. For 1 K you get lounge, capsule room, bed, toiletries, shower, snacks and more importantly separation from the million other people in the building.
Cheers. G.

Appreciate.
As business lounges go it is nothing special. Not bad just not really special.
More in common with Air Canada in Toronto than say Turkish Air in Istanbul. If you have gone through Frankfurt flying Star Alliance flights, think the low level lounges not the ones for true frequent flyers or first class.

Kidnapping in Miindanao

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/oct/05/british-national-and-his-wife-kidnapped-in-southern-philippines
I posted something similar in the Davao thread but was attacked for doing so. There are a lot of dodgy foreigners knocking about and I am not speaking of monger types. Others are posting about VIP lounges at airports. Mixing with the masses can be good to see who else is there in the way of dodgy foreigners.
Your report is interesting as it confirms my spotter thesis. Two of them checked in, waited for their targets to show up, then got the cavalry to appear.
One general lesson is not to flash cash and to stay off all radars. I am not painting it out as the battle of Stalingrad but if you end up tied and bound in a speed boat with an AK47 trained on you, it is not good. Angeles has its own Muggers Alleys and so on.

Appreciate.
Like others have said, nothing special about the lounge, food is meh, WiFi is hit or miss, but at least the alcohol flows freely!

Mindanao is unique.

Kidnappers try and source money from kidnapped persons government, or family members in the form of ransoms.
Religion seems to be the main driver. 'Them' kidnapping Christians. Moral of the story. Keep out of Mindanao!

Appreciate.
Uber no longer exists in Ph and when it did it was more expensive than taxi.
Just catch Grab and it is a fixed price.
Manila is a big place. A fare from Resorts World Makati will be a different price than from SM City North EDSA as will time of day and traffic.
It's not something that you have to worry about. It's going to be between A $5 and A $30.

Appreciate.
They do not have Uber, they have Grab (who bought out Uber a couple years ago.) Last time I tried to take it from Angeles to Manila they said they did not go that far.
