I am going to take it in and add it to the experiences I have heard people say they have had. I will consider that this is sometimes true. But these claims of guys getting better rates beccuase they are younger or because they speak spanish were never true in the past. Also let me elaborate on what I base my knowledge on since you referred to my writing that it is what is said by most people who post on this forum. I have been to Cartagena over a dozen times and I have met and talked to people of all ages and all sorts of ethnicities (I once had a 28 year old wingman who was of Indian descent but spoke perfect Spanish. I know many chicas thought he was attracive because he actually hooked up with a lot non pros who were hot. But when he mongered he got the same rates that I did) - I have talked to guys of all ages. I have acted as a tour guide for many a young whippersnapper who was just learning the ropes. Then compared notes after the went out on their own, so I am not basing my knowledge on just the reports on this forum. If you go back far enough you will see that I have made many long detailed reports about Cartagena (not sure the forum lets one go back that far).

I have had regular chicas I could call when I got into town and repeated them with on regular basis who often gave me a better rate than I would have gotten in Plaze de Los Coches or LDV. But I am still old and fat and do not speak Spanish. I believe they just took a lower rate because it was guaranteed money and I was a repeat customer. I have been with what I call the semi-pros becuase they only see men on certain occassions when they really need money and I have been with non pros that I have spent entire weekends with. All the while learning as much as possible from them about the scene.

But all my experiences are separated from the fact that the scene is evolving. Now there are a lot more idiots going down there. YouTubers trying to make a show of it, and all sorts. I have been going to Cartagena since before someone could carry a translator in your pocket. There once was a guy here on the forum who would sell you the recordings of how do pronounce certain sentences and expressions in Spanish that you would need to know. In the early days I had to use Google translate in my apartment on my laptop beucause there were no smart phones. I had to memorize everything before I left the apartment. Write some things down but I did not want to be seen reading off a paper so I memorized most. If she started talking and I couldn't understand then I would just repeat myself. Stating what I was willing to pay and for what services. I think it made me look stubborn so the chicas knew that because of my limited Spanish I would either accept yes or no. And there were times I walked away and the next chica knew for sure that I would walk away. There were way more chicas than mongers back then and it is a market like any other.

Again though I repeat even with all that being said the scene there has been changing since the early days and it keeps changing. I used to not see another "Estadounidense" all day. My first trip I did not meet even one other tourist from the USA. Just one Canadian. There were some guys from the USA there but they were not tourists they were there for work. I could spot the DEA guys who used to hang out in the old La Dolce Vita in Laguito before that moron Secret Service Agent screwed up that gig for them. They were easy to spot becuase they all have the same haircut and they way everone who worked in the place greeted them like they knew them. Like they were very regular. Otherwise though not many people from USA. Not only were the narco terrorist bombings still fresh on everyones minds but in those days the airport was tiny compared to now and when leaving the country my luggage would get a thorough search by military clad guys with machine guns. It was very third worldish. So who could blame people who did not want to go? Then Colombia started chainging its image through tourist advertising and in Cartagena a more civilized airport experience.

Since then the number of USA gringos has grown exponetially and they have brought their ignorance of the local economy and their arrogance and the scene has changed. But even back in the old days there were people saying the same things but when I was on the ground I never witnessed it. If there are people getting better rates than more power to them. I just still think it is probably the exception and not the rule.

I've been living between Colombia and Brazil for over 20 years, average looking guy I guess, but good at the gab, and good at spanish and portuguese.

If you're good at the gab and can vibe with them, and better yet, good looking, you'll definitely get a better price. No doubt.

1. I see on this thread that high end is going from 300 - 500 k at night (with beginner xp, of course. That will be me too). I'm seeing high end "verified" on skokka for 90 k. Why not just invite them out?

I was flying to CTG for $300 at the beginning of the year. My next flight there is on Spirit and is $600+ (American was $1000). Given how cheap it still is to go to Mexico, unless you are going to stay a month or more, only reason to go to Colombia IMO is the top quality women.

FWIW, I met my gal in Guatemala City. Cost of flights for both her and I were similar to Mexico, and I liked the city. It was safe and actually nicer than most Mexican cities (and all Colombian ones), and there is not going to be the hassle with customs some Colombian women get in Mexico. I was able to get a nonstop and flight time is about the same as to Cancun.

Point is if you find a Colombian girl you like and are stretched for time, GC is a good halfway point.

I like to swim in a warm ocean everyday when on vacation so CTG works well for me. I stay in Boca in an oceanfront modern condo airbnb. I have also used SA with success in Playa del Carmen. Next trip is to Santa Marta to visit one of them. That's where she lives. She took a 6 hour bus ride to get to CTG.
