I don't think the taxis of Manila are the best maintained vehicles in the world. Doubt if Grab is any better. Good for local rides in the city. Stick with buses.

But their hairy way of driving along that highway Manila to AC, whether taxi or 'private' sedan, causes some concern. Recently I had a bad experience with a sturdy bus service, but think, after your post, viz, 'break down' , and 'hairy rides' , I might go back to the buses, which one would think are serviced more regularly. Taxis swap from one drivers shift to another, with no time, or cash flow lost = servicing most probably compromised. Will try buses again, but not Genesis, which I wrote about in Angeles thread couple of weeks ago.

Never thought of a break down, but now you mention it, why not? LOL.

Guy kept apologizing and had to stop and fill up radiator about twice. Frustrating. I suppose bus would be more cost effective and reliable but door to door is attractive.

It is like 124 from Pasay. I don't know if it is the same or less from that mall.

If you're staying near Robinson's Place in Malate, your best bet to minimize traffic is to take a taxi to the Rabbit Bus Terminal near Avenida. I've never heard of Rabbit bus's being unreliable. I've never had one break down on me either.

The driver drove like a bat out of hell. Going through villages, old ladies, children and one legged chickens would dive out of the way as he sent stalls and prams heave wars. He laughed like a maniac all the time. Everyone of all religious persuasions and none prayed the Rosary as we all expected to be checking out. I'd say those drivers go through enough speed to win every Olympic track and field medal going.
