Strasbourg/St Denis update
I was watching tennis at Roland Garros for a week a few weeks ago. For action, I was walking distance to the Strasbourg/St Denis station. This year was the best in years with the Cihinese being the most prominent. There were an assortment of others that were probably North Africans, Blacks and? . Now, 90% are category 5 and under. Be patient, and you will find a 6 or 7. Only dealt with the Chinese girls, did not bargarin hard & pay 30/40Euros. I used my hotel and did not have to pay the room surcharge. Most girls were passive but compliant, but because they became lubricated, I knew they enjoy the action. Remember, they are under alot of tension, not only from law enforcement but because most are reluctantly doing the trade. Still, if you can calm the situation and create some chemistry, you can have some fun for a resonable price and they might forget to look at the clock. It's not Bangkok or Buenos Aires, it's just to bring your pick down.

i am french. i live in paris, near rue de paradis (50m away...). there has never been any prostitutes working in that street. this is strictly fictionnal. nevertheless, the nearby "boulevard de strasbourg" and the "boulevard saint denis", is an area know as ssd (strasbourg saint denis which is the name of the nearby tube station). in these streets you can actualy find prostitutes walking on the pavement. the prostitutes here are chineese and east-europeans (romanian and bulagarian girls). prices are high (minimun 60 eur for a quicky and more likely 80 eur + hotel 30/40 eur) and service is low.
i know one romanian girl (nickname "mycose-entre-les-seins") who lives in rue de paradis. she only lives in there. but she takes customers to hotels, not to her place. so may be there is some remote truth about all this, although you wont be able to pay for sex in that street.
porte de clichy is a place where there has been some women working in the sex trade, in the past. they were africans (english speaking girls) and also russian and east-european girls. so, it is based on a true fact that was true a long time ago. you might be able to find african prostitutes at porte de clichy these days. there are also chineese girls at place de clichy (cheap 30/40 eur + hotel 20/30 eur for a quicky). usualy they are bad looking and over 40yo.
about police corruption in france: the facts shown in the film "taken" are hoaxes. the police is not paid by the east-european mafia to allow prostitution. this is not true. nevertheless, our police is not 100% clean. the police close their eyes on activities going on in pigale: tourists beeing swindeled in peep show bars. these bars lure tourists inside. they say that you will be able to pay for sex inside. what will happen if you get inside is that you will be charged 500 eur or 1000 eur for one of a few bottles of champagne (or limonade with lemon) and you will get nothing. you will be forced to pay by bouncers. if you don't pay, god will be the only one who can help you. this has been going on for about 30 years. the police has never done anything about it. it has been reported on tv. may be the french police thinks that it is a french entertainment for foreign tourists. so beware!

You can be 100% sure, that the cops get their cut to allow tourists to get robbed and or beaten, and ANY other organized scams and crimes, such as escort services, most of the drug dealing, stolen cars, extortions, gambling, protection rackets, loan sharking, whatever criminal activities except for terrorism and murders, and small crimes by "un"-organized crooks. In fact, its much easier for cops to pretend they are doing their job, when they only have to go after shoplifters and muggers, and then they get supported by the media when they go after armed robbers and murderers.
Like the French Deputy of Internal Security in the movie said, his salary is "X", and his expenses is "Y", and how the difference is made up, is NOT his concern, as long as it does not affect him.
That is the real part of the movie.
That's exactly what they want you to believe.

There's good and bad in EVERY category.
If you think there's no bad police, then you're fooling yourself. Its as naive as thinking there isn't organized crime infiltrated throughout society at almost every level.
When a group has power, they're main purpose is to keep it, whether its political, or authority. Bending the rules to benefit themselves is nothing new.
What is ethical or moral about defense companies discreetly influencing politicians and the media that we need to have wars, so they can get contracts worth billions to sell arms to be used to murder civilians? Nothing at all, but its been happening forever and will always continue. The rich get richer, and the poor die as slaves.
History repeats itself, oldest lesson in life.
Politicians and cops take bribes, lesson number 2.
