Does it matter what day of the week or what month of the year you visit AC. I know school is now back in session in the Philippines, their vacation was during the spring monsoons. How much would you budget. What hotel. I am thinking of going, say, tomorrow night Friday. Airasia doesn't list on kayak but they have fares for like $40 round trip TPE-CRK. Taiwan is lame for hobbyists. I mean is midweek slow or, is summer slow or, maybe slow is still plenty of selection and cheaper low season hotels. Well I will read back in this thread but thought someone could help out and refresh our memories.

Hrm. According to this the temperature is always on the hot side. And the rainy season is beginning. Does that put a damper on the nightlife?

Making a trip report as promised.

Taxis from the airport to Manila have reached ridiculous prices. I didn't really have a good idea of transportation, so in the end, I took a taxi, with a fixed rate, to a bus station in Manila, which cost me 1600 pesos. The bus ticket, on the Philippines Rabbit, was 145, I believe, one way, from Manila to Angeles. This is not an advisable route. I was told that there is a Victory Bus terminal much closer to the airport that can be reached by spending 75 pesos on a taxi, and then taking the Victory buses, which are much nicer than the Philippines Rabbit. I think I will be taking the Southern Cross back at this point. I was told that taxis to Angeles cost 4000 pesos.

My feeling about the raids is that they are just a low season demand for higher payoffs that seem to have become a regular event in AC every rainy season for the last 3 years. I hate to hear about this sort of thing, but so far only 3 bars have been raided. If this were a new paradigm, it seems to me the authorities would raid 20 bars in one night including the big ones, to signal things have really changed in AC. That it is no longer going to be business as usual going forward. But the authorities have not done this so I remain hopeful. I still plan to visit AC in early 2014, but if things get worse; I will make travel adjustments and spend more time in Makati and Subic.

I did it early in the morning and it was a great trip to AC. I don't know about other times of the day.

Who are you talking to? Most hotels will do it for around 2600-2800 pesos. Are you really doing your research?
