Recently a Filipino politicos son was raving about why it must be in Manila and I asked how many of those landing in Manila really are staying in Manila vs traveling out.

Does anyone beside me find it odd how the ladies at MBC / LAC (not to mention Amazonia and G point) look so delicious on the first night in Manila and rather plain on the last night in Manila? How does that happen?

Amazonia: Chatted to two ladies, one of which was very fine. Ms Fine had a fugly friend, which I was polite too. We had a nice conversation, but the specifics of dinero with Ms. Fine were not forthcoming. The usual, "up to you". So, I finished my beer and left. But was surprised to find, first the fugly, then Ms. Fine, wanted tips. After an unsuccessful nego, I didn't think tips were in order. I felt a bit uncomfortable. Am I missing something?

Robinsons ermita: I was surprised to find the National bookstore and TGIF closed. The bookstore was one of my favorite meeting places. TGIF promises to return,but it was never one of my favorite dining choices. The Chinese restaurant across P. Gil street from TGIF is also closed or possibly being renovated. But there is a brand spanking new house of high cuisine on the Malate side of P. Gil -- Yes, another McDonalds. Stayed at Rothman and Executive. Both have been review here before.

Taxi: Airport to Malate. Take the Skyway? Okay, it seems like I have to go thru Makati just to get to Malate. Maybe I should stay at Makati. WTF, with the trucks lined up on Roxas? Apparently this is to reduce congestion on Roxas. It seems to be working, although the taxi drivers now whine about the "heavy traffic" of trucks. For the record, I do sometimes book direct flights to Cebu in order to avoid the Manila traffic and taxi ripoff headache.

The Amazonia girls won't let you out of there without massage (once you sit down). They are typically fugly and don't get taken very often. I see there's some messy taxi stuff going, so I'll throw in my XP.

I arrived pretty early morning at T3. There was no line through immigration, so that went quick, though Mr. Rubber Stamp was about as friendly as a junk yard dog.

Got a coffee and waited til the sun started to peak before I grabbed a taxi. There was a huge line of coupon and yellow cabs just waiting at about 6:00 am Jumped in a metered yellow cab, and got to Ermita in about 40 minutes. There was a ton of jeepneys with school kids jamming up the road, so 40 seemed reasonable. Total damage on the meter: 222 pesos.

Side Note: I think I booked this area due to LA Cafe, but wow, it's worse than I remembered (the area, not LA Cafe, have not hit that up yet).

I love a good massage, but I don't ever allow some stranger to come up behind me and start touching me. And some of the massage. Wannabe dullards will make faces or call you "stuck up" when you wave them off, which can affect the rest of your stay at that particular bar. But like Westy, I've had some great sessions with gals who aren't phased by this, or maybe aren't influenced by the Asian group mentality. (sorry for the stereotype). If a bar gal can read your mood, make the adjustment, provide some relaxing banter, and offer a good hug / hugs, she may just.

It could be worse! When I first visited the Philippines in Olongapo there were many go go bars that catered to the US military. In February a yellow cab from T1 to Paco Park via Roxas and UN Avenue cost 330 pesos (plus tip). Three weeks ago a yellow cab from T3 to UN and Taft (also near Paco Park) via the "skyway" cost 330 pesos (plus tip and 20 php toll fare). My point is that T3 has clear advantages over T1 for space, air conditioning, and eateries, but if Ermita or Malate is the destination, there are no advantages in taxi travel and possibly some added headaches in waiting for cabs at T3.

Thanks for the add on SK. I've never found the food at G point good, so glad to hear you found a sweet spot at some point in the distant past. My G point gal was 27, and the only one I would have considered on that night. Beer goggles help when in a pinch. The last time I ordered food in LAC I had a few hanger ons and a large plate of pancit made everyone happy. I don't know if they still give those big plates of food.

G point is the kind of place where guys do bring wives or gfs, so mind your manners. As SK suggests they might also have independent means of income. It would be wildly reckless to assume these ladies are getting remittances from some romantic fool from far, far away and just needed to meet up with the old friends and possibly get a good fk on the side. However, due to the Manila port gridlock the gov't has eliminated the prohibition of trucks on Roxas. This has turned the left lane of the three-lane road into a parking lot as the trucks queue for their loads. I read in the paper that some truckers are waiting up to three days to pick up their loads.

Day 2, Friday February 28, 2014 – Ermita:

So I arrived in MNL after a 24 hour plane flight tired, but ready for some action. My adrenalin was pumping. I mean who could sleep now knowing that hundreds of girls were waiting to meet me all over town and ready to show me a good time. Around 8 pm I took a taxi to the EDSA Entertainment Complex. I think there are 6 bars on the first floor. It is like the Nana Plaza of Manila. I think the two must see bars here are Firehouse and Cotton Club. You will definitely find some good looking girls here. Prices vary. There is the barfine and then there is the girl's service fee which is paid separately to your girl. This is a similar pricing structure to Burgos Street bars and the total price here is somewhere in the middle meaning the Edsa Complex bars are more expensive than the least expensive Burgos Street bars like Rogues and Stardust and less expensive than the more expensive Burgos street bars like Bottoms. As for quality, well I think it is pretty good meaning a lot better than MBC and roughly on par with many Burgos Street bars. So it is a good place to go.

It had been 2 years since I last visited the Edsa Entertainment Complex.
