Boat drivers and chicas orders drinks and food, they bring the bill out as we were leaving at the cost of 3,500,000 for 8 people- and non of my boys even ordered food. Just one drink each. Smh. Also the boat guys were def in on this, as they went to shore for 5 min as were leaving and hopped back on the boat. However, we will have the last laugh as they accepted my credit card which will now be easily disputed. Hopefully they don't realize it was us- these people seem kind of dumb and are hopefully probably just part time laborers working for a much bigger company who won't even notice the charge back for a couple weeks until it trickles down to the guy with the tablet. We usually go only once a year, will use a different boat company, and skip chalon. Hopefully all those things added together saves us from future trouble. Thanks for input and advice!

Your bill looks to be about $800, from what my chicas told me recently, the price of food on the islands went up a lot but not no $800 bill allot. I don't know how many girls you had but if they ordered food and the boat crew ordered as well (usually a crew of 2 minimum) then you and your boys had dinks (did you and your boys pay attention to those drink prices?) then add the 20% surcharge that 3,500,000 COP would require an itemized breakdown before I pay anything, F that bringing me a single large ass number on a napkin BS! I normally only work with Helmer if he's working the island that day and tip him accordingly.

The "Azul something" you are referring to is probably the Blue Apple. She said she has a friend who has a boat but need to pay for his food and drinks during the time, so cannot provide a exact amount. I immediately realized this is a scam. I told her there are regular boats who transport people to islands to which she said she does not want to do that.

Just watch out for all these scams. I had no interest in going to islands. I have done these in Bahamas and other places with no scams.

If you are loose with the money certainly everyone will scam you. I found Cartagena is high on the list for girl and club bill scams. Unless you have a regular local GF who will watch out for you, watch your wallet.

Colombians in other countries like Costa Rica and Panama before were extremely GFE and scam free.

I would be mind blown if it doesn't. I threw the card in the water like 5 minutes after we left the island out of frustration from getting scammed. If it doesn't work for this, I don't know what it can ever work for hahah. Amex lady on the phone definitely shared her sympathy for me hahah.

P.S.- about 5 years ago, my friend paid with his CC at pley club for a takeout chica. They charged 900,000 pesos for 6 hours, 3 leches was the agreement with the chica's boss (even though the guy actually said number of leches doesn't matter, he was more concerned she'the be back in 6 hours) After the first leche she just straight up refused for round 2, saying the money was too little, although my boy paid the club directly which she worked for. He got pissed, sent her home, charged back after couple weeks and was refunded. He also had an Amex, who are basically the gold standard for consumer protection of fraud.

[/QUOTE]Beware. They get you on the island and serve you food, fish and drinks, they do not have any prices on the menu or maybe no menu at all. Then they will try to charge you many times more than reasonable, and will not return you from the island until you pay. Typical Cartagena scam. And the Colombian women support the Colombian men in their scam. You will pay big time to get off the island!

Elevators still messed up?

I was there in March and was not a good stay as me usual, I was on the 16th floor and only 1 elevator worked, 1 was under renovation and the other was out of service. There was always a line no matter what time we came in. Then the roach problem because there was construction happening all day.

Roaches were coming out the electrical sockets and always in the bathroom. My chicas loved the view of the lake so we mostly just stayed on the balcony and drank and played games most of the night and had good sunsets.

It's not just us Americans and Euros that are getting scammed. It's any foreigner. The private boat trips are all tourist traps. If you want to take a chica to a beach, do what Colombians do. They pay for a day trips (pasadías) to Punta Arenas, Baru, or Islas del Rosario. They include round trip boat rides from Muelle de Bodeguita. Some are high end, but most are very affordable and include lunch. I've done this a few times and the chicas get really impressed.

The best way is an overnight or a few days at an all inclusive resort in Baru. It's much nicer. The beaches don't have any touts or massage ladies, and it's usually only other couples. The atmosphere is way better. It's more expensive (though not really if you pay in COP).

But that's the only problem we ever have there and just suck it up. We stay on the 21st top floor 5 br penthouse with panoramic balcony- it's so sick. No roach issues and never ever had visitor issues in 5 years, always signing in 4-5 different chicas each and every night.

Been there done that, will never do that again!
