when it comes to how these laws are applied towards customers in bars nothing has changed in pi in the last years. the customers in bars have thus nothing to worry about. (only in one or two raids customers have been hold, but released shortly after without more problems.) this is not likely to chance. and if it does the chances for exactly you to be caught are extremely small (being at the place at the wrong time.). comparable to the chances of getting in a plane crash (still most of choose to fly). conclusion: it is still nice to come to pi and ac to meet women. further into the future we don't know, so come now!

Various groups have since March 2013 tried to either shut down the scene in AC (not succeeded) or slow it down (succeeded at the moment). First they tried to close the bars by sting operations followed by raiding. Most of these bars reopened and the last raid was on the Viking Bar July 12th (29 days ago). At the moment they have given up that strategy because of lack of evidence. Otherwise they would have shut down all the bars by now.

Secondly, they now try to harass the bars for not comforming to some detailed fire-safety or housekeeping rules (last one was Midnite Rock). The bars then loose income.

Third, IJM and other fundamentalist or extremist foreign NGOs have agents placed in bars, hotel and on-line forums to gather information, cockblock and spread false information to scare. This is in addition to perform sting operation in the bars (which they don't succeed with anymore). The misinformation also take place on this forum. They do this to create a feeling that AC is dangerous, boring and that it's not longer possuble to meet women here. All this is false, but still it makes some customers to stay away and the bars loose income.

Conclusion: You can still come to AC, it's NOT dangerous, just be cautious as to whom you share information. If more customers come the cronies will fail in their third strategy. If you read some older reports in this thread you can find some useful info, but updated info is hard to come by. Also you should not post info on this or other boards that can be used against bars or persons. As for meeting women you have to find out yourself how to do it, and don't tell anyone! They will usually allow a friend to go and get it from your Hotel. But if its the NBI out of manila. They may take you to manila and make someone bring it to them there.

The answer to this is always either keep your drivers license with you. Or. Make a copy of your passport and keep on you and you will have no problems.

Charging Bar owners / mamasans and the like. No one really cares. The tourist will either go else where in the PI or another bar.

But if ia customer can be charged. Well that means it can happen anywhere in the PI. And that would kill a large number of tourist.

Customers don't have to worry about being charged (with normal aged girls of course). Its the bar owners and mamasans who have to worry.

I don't really do the bars. I hang out on Blow Row in the day time and go to High Society at night. No problem with barfine on Blow Row. Business as usual. As a matter of fact when I was at my usual spot a guy came in to check all of the IDs. He wrote them down on some form.

I walked past 3 gogos and after the girls propositioned me to come in I asked about the barfine. The first place said no barfine. I said early work release then? She said no. I said well what do you call it now if I want a girl to come with me. She whispered in my ear that drink quota is 1500. The next two places I was also able to get a price under the guise of drink quota after telling them I was not police. The only place that I actually went inside absolutely refused. I talked to several of the girls and the manager. They said I could only drink inside with the girls. What if I want to drink with the girl in my room or in another place? Absolutely not. I don't know the names of any of the bars.

Heading to Phils in September for a week of fun and frolics. Splitting my time 3 nights in AC and 3 nights in Manila to cover all bases. If this is to be the last time I make the trip to AC, will make sure I go out with a bang!
