Day 1-.

Hello everyone I have been following this site for probably around a year now. I decided to contribute since I have arrived in Sao Paulo this week. After spending 2 days in RJ, I was looking forward to my return to SP. I arrived at CGH and it was a quick Uber to my hotel in Jardim. Here are some random observations and advice I would give a random newbie going to SP for the first time.

The benefits of Uber black is they almost never cancel on you and have quicker arrival times. As Uber is so cheap in Brazil, I usually just use Uber black over regular Uber to save time. I found the traffic to be more than tolerable and hear it was way worse pre-pandemic.

Local Currency:

I find having checking accounts with ATM fees refunded to you is the best way to get local cash. I use Schwab and TD for international hobbying ATM withdrawals without fees. You get very close to the exchange rate. Just make sure you to decline the conversion offered by the local bank. I also find Branseco to be my go to ATM due to their security and higher withdrawal limits.

I usually withdraw cash enough for a couple of days of hobbying upon arrival at GRU. There are some right after customs and more on first and second floor of arrivals terminal.

I also carry some $100 bills for emergency conversion at a local exchange, at the hotel and even directly with the GDP.

Cellular Service:

Google Fi is great if you are in country for more than a few days. It is also a great international hobbying phone as you can pause and resume service anytime and pay a prorated amount for service used. Their connection is reliable around SP and RJ. Except by Christ the Redeemer, but that's probably the case for all cell service as AT&T and Verizon didn't work there either.

If you are only there for a few days and have AT&T or Verizon, then just use their daily plan, which is like $10 per day. Much less of a headache then trying to find a sim card dealer that speaks English and able to install and load it for you without a CPF.

Hotels:

I have found the Grand Hyatt, Intercontinental and Renaissance in SP and the JW Marriott in RJ to be girl friendly. I also heard from some monger I met at a clinica that the Bourbon and Mecure in Moema were also girl friendly and very cheap and convenient for waking to clinicas around Moema.

The Grand Hyatt did have the girl register when I came back with her from dinner at 10 pm. They initially tried to charge me, but I pointed out that I had booked a room for 2 guests so they apologized and didn't charge me. Their location isn't the best as it isn't near the main tourist area or Scandallo, but are closer to some clinicas by Brooklin and Itam Bibi. The hotel also quite nice and currently priced cheaply for a 5 star establishment due to COVID-19 destroying business travel and the weak Real.

I brought a girl back at 1 am to the Intercontinental and we walked right in hand in hand and no one stopped us. I find the hotel to be okay, but below other intercontinental hotels worldwide. It is a stretch to call this a 5 star place.

I brought a girl back to the Renaissance after dinner at 10 pm and no one stopped us. We even strolled around the bar as I heard that some working girls occasionally hang out there, but we saw none that were obvious. This hotel is super modern and nicer than the Grand Hyatt by a little bit. It is centrally located to everything (good restaurant, shopping, tourists places, clinicas and Scandallo, etc.) and priced cheaply due to weak Real. It's my go to place for future stays in SP.

The JW Marriott had the girl register when we came in at 2 am, but after a min of awkward small talk while the girl at the front desk did her entry, we were in our way. The JW is centrally located in Copacabana and in decent shape and offered good service.

Clinicas:

I've only been to 2 so my experience is limited, but I find them to be of tremendous value and that the girls offer good service as it's mostly locals and repeat customers. I plan to check out a few more on my next trip in a few weeks and maybe hit some of the higher end clinicas.

Scandallo:

At the end of the day, I've not experienced anything comparable to Scandallo in it's combination of quantity and quality. The closest for me are FKKs in Germany, but the eastern European girls (mostly Romanians) are on average not as service oriented or passionate as Brazilian girls. I've been to FKKs where there were 100+ girls and many 8's and 9's, but mechanical service and upselling are more common.

My other friends says Dongguan, China in it's prime can compare but that's in the past now. Also Hong Kong Club in Tijuana can compare for size and quantity and optics of girls, but the service is way lower and the costs is higher than Scandallo for 60 min.

With the weak Real, there is no better time than now to "splurge" and treat yourself to a night or two or three at my current #1 international hobbying venue. Scandallo!

Visitors should enjoy themselves but also should try to respect the local market and not distort it just because the exchange rate is currently favorable. 500 an hour is more than fair, paying more than that is going to further distort the scene. As reported, there are more than enough that will gladly accept 500 even if they start off asking for 800 or more. Some will accept 400 (I've even seen lower) particularly outside the peak hours (11-2) as they know they can try for another customer after you.

As for numbers of girls, excluding outliers like Formula 1 week, I would say 100-200 is more likely than not. I admit its hard to count a crowd that is in flux so I could be wrong. Anyone ever ask the management how many rooms are on premise?

Also the longer one is in town, the more one should branch out. Scandallo is not the only game in town, nor the best cost benefit unless you are really time constrained.
