While reading past posts, noticed a bunch of queries on lodging in Seoul. Think this is a fairly useful link for visitors.

When I go up to Seoul, usually stay in the Hamilton. Right in the middle of Itaewon. Rooms on the 9th floor are new and can usually get them for Won 112,000 a night. And they don't say anything if you bring a girl back to the room. Plus, you have easy access to the Sports Massage. Have heard the massage girls will come to your room, but never got the nerve to ask.

Will be up this week. Interested in an all nighter with a Korean or a Filipino, if anyone has a recommendation.

Went back to Chez Vous for some food. Chatted a bit with Awika (pronounced "A-VEEK-A"). It seems that a Thai girl left there little more than a week ago. I suspect that she was the one you saw. Does anyone know anything about the red light area just down from Ahyeon Station (on the green line - one stop from Ewha Women's University)? There are about a dozen street front windows, with some more on the side streets. It was closed when I went to check it out at lunchtime, today.

I don't know anything about the area past Ehwa Ho Man, but I will find out for you soon. I will be living in that area while I attend Yonsei for a few weeks starting at the end of March. I was there in 2001 and had no problem picking up the college girls in the area from the variuos schools so I had no reason to check out the pay as you go places. There was some discussion previously about the Ta-Bangs or Tea Rooms here in Seoul. Since reading the previous posts, I have been keeping my eyes out for the special sequence of characters which would indicate such a venue.

During my last trip to Yongsan I spotted some and decided to give it a go. I descend a flight of stairs and came to a very ordinary room with lots of tables and couches. It was lit like a school cafeteria except with no schoolgirls. The only person I saw was an old ajuma. Ok, so maybe there are some chicks out back, I thought. I ordered a coffee and sat. The old lady brought me my coffee and went back to her desk to continue watching her soap opera.

Although I've never personally been to a Ta-Bang in Korea, I imagine that the problem with your experience was primarily due to the time you went. 4PM is hardly the primetime for these kind of establishments. From your post, it sounds like you were the only customer there at the time, which is usually a bad sign. =) Likely, there were no girls available at the time you went in, and the ahjuma was trying not to lose a potential customer. I am willing to bet that you'll have better success at a later hour, as you suggested.

Our hobby was in the news this week. The Korea Times had an editorial about the sex industry. It thinks there about 1 million women out working. The editorial complained that areas for prostitution -- such as Yongsan -- flourish right under the polices' noses. (Isn't about right? Who is the police box in Yongsan protecting) Lastly, the Times advocating taking the bulldozer to places such as Miari. This could the end of good times as we know it.

About the tabong write up: I think you will find a lot of older women running the places. I tried one at the corner by the subway portal some time ago with no success. It was upstairs. There is one downstairs next to a barbershop. Have not tried it. Last shop I know is directly across from Yongsan station near the police box. It just stands to reason that some of the girls who had their fill in Yongsan RLD would be at the coffee shops.

I know exactly what you mean about being chicken. I too feel like a bit of a weirdo actually walking around there, but in the end there could be some action so I guess potential pros outway cons. Went to Yongsan today at 11 AM.

First pass throught the mains street was quite impressive... tall girls, well dressed and groomed. There was about 4 or 6 of them, so business starts early in that place, and I love that. No eye contact or invitation though, no smile, even after hello and hi and how are you's.

I realized this was the 'A' row some folks were talking about earlier. Very frustrating, specially when they were right there waiving at some other dudes they could not even see in cars passing by. Where can one score such beauties?

I visited Itaweon and the infamous ***** hill last night. I would not recommend it. As you walk up, you are grabbed and pulled into small bars, these girls are the pushiest I have ever seen.

Visited Yongsan this week for the first time in a month or so. Found a somewhat slim ajumma on one of the B rows.
