It always surprises me when guys who do not live or work here, and who may have read a couple of newspaper articles or an embassy warning, often self-righteously warn others of the alleged dangers of living here. Most of these warnings are grounded in firm ignorance of the facts on the ground and/or the geography of Mindanao.
The fact is the Mindanao, the second largest island in the country, accounts for approximately a third of the land area of the entire country. It's enormous, and what happens in one place has little or no effect on what may happen somewhere else, hundreds and hundreds of kilometers removed. That the Abu Sayyaf is "in Mindanao" is a little like saying that there's a kidnapping group on the West Coast, so better avoid the entire area.
The Abu Sayyaf operates primarily in regions so remote that no foreigner--particularly foreigners with our hobby--would ever consider going there even without the Abu Sayyaf presence. Why would anyone want, for example, to go to Sulu or to the jungles around Lamitan, Basilan? There are no hotels, no decent infrastructure and no nightlife, not to mention little in the way of tansportation. I know this because I go to these places (gasp) for business.
The MILF also operates, it's true, in these places, and also in North Cotabato, with occasional appearances in Sharif Kabunsuan and Maguindanao. Anyone rushing to go to these garden spots? I can assure you that with or without the MILF, there's no reason at all to go.
There are only three spots on Mindanao that would normally attract most of the members of this forum: Davao, Cagayan de Oro and (perhaps) Zamboanga. They're all totally safe and, in my opinion, each is safer for the average foreigner, than Manila. There's less street crime, less hustling, less traffic, less pollution and altogether fewer hassles than Manila, and these places are far less expensive. All offer ample opportunity to sample the local lovelies as well.
Someone will doubtless point out that last week, two bombs exploded in Iligan, midway between Cagayan de Oro and Marawi. These is true, but again, what relevance does it have for members of this forum? Iligan is, by my reckoning, an undesirable place with or without bombs, and would normally not attract anyone to visit for any reason.
So the bottom line? If you're into remote jungle areas, with little or no electricity, spartan, even primitive accommodations and zero night life, you may want to reconsider before coming here. For normal people however, who want to be buried in pussy while enjoying the pleasures of being in an area that's secure, pollution free and very laid back, come on down. The weather, the women and the water are all fine.

I thought Date In Asia sucked but I have met a hottie in Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand on the site. Surprisingly all have jobs (have not asked for money) and two are educated and one is a working college student.
Only drawback the Thai girl doesn’t speak English that well but if you know Thailand like I do that is a good thing :)

I wrote a report a couple of months back about my DIA experiences before my trip to the PI. I had obtained, I guess, about 20 phone numbers of girls that said they would like to meet me before I left. I also booked a ticket from Cebu to Boracay for a sweet little thing that I felt pretty good about. I was to fly from Manila and wait for her flight to arrive in Boracay.
I had lined up a girl (non DIA) to be with in Manila for a few days that I had met on a previous trip before I was to fly to Boracay. That all went well and I came up with a good enough excuse to get rid of her for a week or so while I played before meeting back up with her for the balance of my PI trip.
Well, everything went as planned for our meeting at Caticlan airport. How often does that happen that everything goes right? She thought I was gwapo and I thought she was super cute with a great body. 24 y/o college student with large breasts on a small frame! We proceed to the hotel on Boracay Island. She was not so shy until it was time for bed. She slept with her clothes on the first night! I let it slide the first night because she was truly an inexperienced and innocent girl. Anyway, to make a long story short, she was very sweet, innocent, appreciative of everything I did for her and always told me so. Not very enthusiastic in bed but would probably turn around as she becomes more comfortable with me. I was only the second guy she had ever had sex with. We had a great time and I don’t regret it for a minute. We still have regular contact and I will probably spend some time with her the next trip out. She may be LTR material.
We spent a couple of days in Cebu together and I got rid of her early so I could meet a couple other girls from DIA before I headed back to Manila. I decided to try a couple of "sure bets" first. I texted one that was very aggressive sexually on our YM chats. I offered to meet her at the SM mall in Cebu. She shows up about an hour and a half later. She was so shy I could barely converse with her. I talked her into ice cream at the food court. She only took one lick and just held on to her cone as it dripped on the floor. She was not as attractive as she appeared on the webcam. She had a nice body that was better than her face and she kept covering her mouth when she talked as if to hide some bad teeth. Well, I cut the meeting short at the hour mark knowing that I was wasting my precious time. I took her to the mall exit where the taxis and jeepneys are and tried to give her taxi money, she refused (wow! ) but I finally forced it on her. She leaves and five minutes later she is texting me begging for another meeting and that we can sleep together and won’t be shy next time. I tell her it’s too late now.
I text the next "sure bet". She is anxious to meet me. Says she’ll be right there. She shows up with a friend. Her friend is so ugly that she could stop a Caterpillar D11 in it’s tracks. She is attractive and I would certainly like to show her my meat rocket. I suggest pizza. We go to Greenwich. We eat, have some small talk but I’m not feeling any chemistry. After dinner she asks me what I want to do. I tell her that I am tired and that I have an early flight out the following morning. She escorts me to the taxi stand and we shake hands (that’s right, not even a hug). Again, five minutes later she is texting me and apologizing for the uninspiring time together and she would like to go to Manila with me! I tell her it’s too late now.
When I get back to my room it is around 9pm and I figure that I will take a nap and then hit the bars just down the street and play around with the bargirls. Then the texts start rolling in from both of them at the same time. I am slow at texting so I can’t keep up with both of them. They both want to come to my room now (yeah, right). I tell them it’s too late.
Anyway, I finally get to sleep and when I wake a couple hours later I am so tired I say f&*k it and stay in bed knowing that I will be well taken care of when I get back to Manila the next day.
The bottom line for me is that DIA does consume a LOT of time if you let it. Was it worth it? For me, yes. Will I do it again? Yes, but no more than seven to ten days prior to my trip departure. Also, I will only dedicate a small portion of my trip to DIA girls, preferably all in the same city.

Thanks for your insight GE. My post was in no way meant to be alarmist or naive either. Like many of us Ive travelled quite a bit (13 countries in my passport). Im not like most I guess. Sure I like to play, but I also like to stray out of the city to experience the REAL personality of the country. Sure, areas in the big cities (CDO, Butuan, Davao, Santos, Zamboanga, Dipolog, etc) are perfectly safe. But the farther south I get, the less I want to stray much. I think the risk outside the cities in higher in Mindanao than Visayas or Luzon.

I just had an interesting chat with a cute little scammer from DIA. As you can see, if you read the attached text file, she claims her name is nicole on DIA. I'm searching DIA using that and other info from the chat session to see if I can find her profile. If I do find it, I will put an updated post on here to protect all of my ISG brothers! I tried to get a screen print of her showing me her tits, but it didn't turn out so good. (Anybody know of a good screen capture program that can do continuous capture, and better quality?) Oh, and you can see in the text file, that she used 2 different YM ID's also.
