I did not search for Indonesia specifically but I did a quick search for Mexico, as that was where I cut my teeth in dealing with corrupt cops outside the US. Search driving the Americas "Dealing with corrupt police".

IMHO, it helps to remain calm and negotiate an exit with payment if one is prepared and / or experienced.

Never felt threatened in the daytime but there was no way I would leave my car on the street by our fabrica at night.

I had the Sentri pass so could cross with minimum wait and was usually back in the USA by dark.

Stopped in Jakarta around when the Asian Games were. And it was much much harder to get taxis or grabs than I recall before. Especially around mall closing times, it would be 30+ min to get a grab, and 15+ min for a taxi from the queues, and the My Blue Bird app didn't work at all really from hotel or mall to request taxis. Also many Blue Birds were having issues with their app to get passcode to pay by credit card. Was usually able to get the driver to log out / log in and it would work, or for them to do it from their mobile app, but it was super annoying when last time it would just work.

This trip was much shorter so I only ventured out to Malio and tried out Hotel Travel for the first time (last time it was only Hotel Classic).

Malio, I did not check out the club floor, only the resto and bar area. Looked quickly for my favorite girl from last time, but she's moved on apparently. Not sure if it's true, but new mms said she retired (but I don't think she knew who I was talking about anyway, as all the girls looked new). Walked across the hall, but didn't see anyone worth 1 jt+ in the area with the dance stage, so went back and picked a girl who had a perky slim body and a great smile. About 5 years ago, it was 1.5 million and some girls asked for 2 million (I am excluding the scrags, I don't count them). I heard rumors (from the girls) of them getting and asking for 2.5 or 3 million, but I had never experienced it. In the last couple of years the going rate has dropped seemingly due to the lack of guys in town with money relative to years past. Almost any BATS girl these days will gladly take 1.5 and most will take 1 million now. Then again, it depends on how they size you up when they talk to you and the supply and demand that particular night. Normally, if I walk into a place like BATS and it's a sausage fest, I leave and head elsewhere before I even finish my drink.

When I spoke with the CJs chick who said 2.5, I didn't like her vibe. She was about a 7 physically, but she had an attitude. Definitely not that hot in my book nor worth the time spent bargaining. Zero English is a big plus for me because I speak fluent Indonesian and that eliminates any bule competition. Though I suspect that in this corner of the market there aren't too many bule buyers! I just renew my US passport instruct them to added more pages and they did it no fee, I added pages on my old passport 2 yr ago at the US consulate in Hong Kong they did it in 3 HR at no charge not sure where did you go to where they charge you most advanced country is now using the RFID chip to scan US passport.
