Irrational fear of policias
Despite the fear projected by some of these guys, it's not illegal to carry liquor in public in Tijuana, as long as you don't drink from it, or appear falling down drunk in public. Also it's not a huge problem sneaking liquor or taking pictures in HK. In fact taking pictures with your chicas is permitted as long as they don't object. HK even has photographers roaming the bar, taking pictures for you and your sweeties for $5. If you get caught, most likely by the security cameras on the ceiling, the worst that could happen is the security guys would mosey over, politely asking you to delete the pics or leave your cameras / flask with customer service. They won't touch your phones.
I have been to Tijuana over 15 years, pretty much every weekend. I have been searched twice by groups of foot-patrol policias, in the dark after mid night, on that long walk from the taxi drop off curb to the border. Both times I held my wallet and cash in my hands. They went through my pockets searching for drugs, but found nothing, and I did not lose anything. Their manners were firm with authority, but restrained and professional. I did not feel I was harassed or in danger with them at any time. They let me go quickly.
Both times I was looking at their faces as I walked past them, even said Hi. That aroused their suspicion. But I have also walked past policia on foot hundred times without being molested. So just act cool when passing policia, don't look at them, don't arouse their suspicion and you won't be searched. If you are caught with violation and cannot argue your ways out of it, pretend you just find $5 or $10 someone dropped on the street. Think of it as a little help to your poor friends to feed their families. They would likely let you go free.
HK staffs and Tijuana policias know their jobs well, work hard, seem to obey strict rules and treat tourists / mongers with deference. Tijuana policia have different problems and different rules of engagement than US PD. But they seem to work hard and are effective. Every time there was a shooting, they would be on site immediately, chasing and arresting the shooters on the spot, or within a few hours. With the horrible unemployment, abject poverty, desperation and rampant drug addiction in Tijuana, just imagine how bad the crime situation would quickly become without the strong policia. Looks to me they are far more effective and efficient than LA or SD PD. City hall knows tourists and mongers are good sources of income. Policias are there to protect them. That'ts why you see so many poiicia in Zona Norte and the tourists' traps on Revolucion. If a few mongers are so weak and stupid, shaking and wetting their pants near policia, that's their own problem but should not be yours. Calling Tijuana policia "monkey" is a stupid attempt at insulting, can only come from a few really weak guys.
A few guys in this forum seem to have developed this very irrational fear for policia and HK meseros alike. They seem to be shaking at the sight of people of authority, like policia and meseros. You do have rights and you are protected by the laws of Mexico, as well as rights as consumers, protected by HK's management. Be strong and be ready to defend your rights. Don't cower and shake in front of the authority like a few guys.
I have been going to Tijuana for 15 years, mostly by myself at night. I have not been robbed or had anything stolen from me, ever. I feel safer in La Zona than in downtown San Bernardino. Check out the latest murder and you will see. The chicas and workers in La Zona have been honest and helpful. Don't let the irrational fear from a few retards worry you and prevent you from having the sexiest times of your life with the sweet, sexy, pretty chicas of Tijuana.

Trip Report: September 7 thru 9
Had the chance to take another friend down to Tijuana last week. As a matter of fact, there were supposed to be three (3) of us, but one fell sick. Still, we left Nevada at 10 am and headed down through the 605 FWY to pick up the third person only to find out he was not feeling too well, so we stopped at a local Wal-Mart to pick up a few things and headed onto the 405 FWY towards San Diego. The guy I was bringing goes quite often, but we have never been to Tijuana together, so this was going to be fun. His name is Alejandro and he speaks fluent Spanish as compared to my "just get by" Spanish. Nontetheless, I texted BaxterSlade that I was heading down towards the border and we agreed to meet at the Camino De La Plaza that afternoon. Just prior to that, we found a Taco Bell near National City and brought two 40's in there and ate tacos and burritos while pouring the 40's of Bud Light and Coors light into the Taco Bell cups (see photo below). We agreed to eat a lot just before crossing so that we wouldn't have to hassle with it later on in the night. The funny thing was, we arrived at virtually the same time. Worked out perfectly really. Baxter was kind enough (since I forgot to print them out) to bring a couple of the 50% coupons for LC / Cascadas and we didn't even need to get them signed at Las Chavelas which is usally the hassle. So, we got our rooms (all 3 of us were on the same floor). Since Alejandro usually stays at a hotel down the street, this was his first chance to stay at Cascadas and I do believe that he was pleasantly surprised. Especially after seeing all the HK girls at the front desk and in front of the hotel. Once we got to our rooms, we got our A / see working, the safe key and the TV remote. The nice thing at Cascadas now is that the A / see has its' own button / switch on the wall, so there is not need to pay the deposit or to get the remote. I helped Alejandro understand how the room worked (the safe, the red light, the TV channels etc.) then gave him a mini-tour of the balcony area and the gift shop downstairs. Cascadas does take a little getting used to for those who have stayed there before. From there, we chilled in our rooms for about 30 minutes or so and I grabbed a shower and put some of my stuff away. It was terrific weather and by the time we went to meet Baxter at Las Chavelas, the sun was beginning to set. Somewhere in between, I ran across the street to Caliente to make a couple of bets on the late games and I think Baxter had already been there earlier to make his bets. I remember that once we entered Las Chavelas, Baxter was at the bar and Alejandro and I sat at the booth across from him next to the stage. The girls were fairly decent, but overall nothing really worth putting too much money into. That didn't phase Alejandro though as he found himself what looked like a white girl, but she claimed she was from the Tijuana area. She had long hair, huge boobies (like that term?) and a sparkling personality. Basically, she was aggressive, but with a balance. She did what she should do. She made Alejandro feel welcome and danced all over him keeping him buying fichas and showing her lots of love. She did give us a little show (refer to photos below) at the booth which was very kind and after 2 or 3 hours, both Alejandro and I were in about 15 to 18 beers. I was also entertaining a girl that was kissing me and allowing me to do virtually anything I wanted (she had black hair, a nice smile and was very ethnic. Latina). However, she was a tiny bit (and I am very picky) on the heavy side for me (possibly perfect for some others though.), so I figured she was worth 4 or 5 fichas and that would be it. So, it was time to look for the exit and make our way somewhere else. And La Gloria Bar came to mind. I told Baxter that I would meet him there and told the girl that we would return around 1 am or so. Alejandro stayed in the bar since the girl he was with was giving him mucho amor. At this point, Alejandro was becoming lit like a pinball machine. So, I told Alejandro that I would leave for a bit and come back to get him. A trip around the block sounded good to me as I checked out the girls and even looked for 1 or 2 of my favorites who were not present. Slightly dissapointed, I headed over to LG Bar to see if one of my favorite girls was there. And well, she wasn't. But, BaxterSlade was inside and he and I sat down in a booth and just chatted a bit. Many of the girls in there were a bit more attractive than what we saw at Las Chavelas, but my regular waiter was not there which was dissapointing. So, a few beers later and I saw a girl (very thin and slightly tall) dancing with a couple other girls on the dance floor to a song from LOS Tigres Del Norte. She really, really caught my eye by the way she swayed. Very hot and tasty. Baxter could tell that I was honing-in on something. Soon, I went to get Alejandro who really had no idea where he was and brought him out of Las Chavelas and over to La Gloria Bar. Once we reached the La Gloria bar, the beer count for Alejandro was in the 30 range and probably 25 for myself. BaxterSlade's beer count was an unknown variable. Still, a girl with half her head shaved on one side with nice eyes spotted Alejandro as we sat in the booth next to the stage. She was sitting on the inner portion next to the stage. She wasn't at all my type, but Alejandro appreciated the attention. The problem was, Alejandro was running out of money and had to go back to the room to get some pesos from the safe. I said, "Don't worry about it" and bought his next few rounds including a couple of fichas for his shaved-head girl. She was friendly and did not drink too fast. I kept eyeing the girl who was dancing that I spoke about earlier and she knew it. As she sat down with a few of her friends, I asked the waitress to send a ficha over to her (from me), but that I did not want her to join me yet.....but later, yes. Baxter at this point made his way outside and somewhere around the block - and he eventually made his way back to La Gloria. The girl I was admiring then came over to me and we proceeded to dance about 5 or 6 times and drink some beers together. She ordered one of those (no idea what they are called) chocolate stick things that looks like a kid's toy for $1. Still, she was very sexy and thin and she was kind to me. I probably spent another $70 or so inside the bar before it got to be about 3:45. The important thing for me was that I kept drinking a lot of water (and pissing a lot in el bano) which has been my secret the past few trips. The H20 is crucial for me down there......really keeps me hydratated and is less of a hangover the next day. We stayed in La Gloria until about 4am at which point Alejandro stayed and bit and I decided that I would join Hugo in a walk around the block to find a possible SG to take back to the room. I figured I would save my girl at La Gloria for the next night. The SG's were either unfriendly that night, or just plain undesirable. Baxter did find one that he made a deal with and as I went to my room to crash for the night (already told Alejandro to meet me back at Cascadas either later or most likely, the next morning). Story to be continued in the next post..........
Trip Report: September 7 thru 9 (Part II)
So, the story continues. The second-half begins with Day #2 which was a bit bizarre. It began by my purchasing a toothbrush at the gift shop for Alejandro since he forgot his. This toothbrush would surface later in the trip report......I woke up around 11 am-11:15 and eventually made it out of the room by 11:45 or so. Checking on Baxter and he was gone from the room. I then knocked on Alejandro's door and after a delayed reaction for 2 minutes, he answered looking like a train wreck. He must have slept in his clothes and probably hadn't had a shower since the prior morning. I figured Baxter might be in Caliente across the street, so I walked over, said Hello, to Wendy and made my way up the stairs. Baxter wasn't there, so I made a few bets for that afternoon and went back across the street to Cascadas to meet Alejandro. We all eventually met-up near our rooms and decided to go get some food at Giusseppe's down on Ave Revolucion. Alejandro had never eaten there (and, well. Still hasn't) so I figured it would be a solid start to the day after a night of drinking. We decided to walk as it really only takes about 10 to 15 minutes or so. Now, we must keep in mind that Alejandro was having a terrific time, but the alcohol from the prior night just had not worn off. As we walked down Avenida Revolucion and were about 2 minutes from Giussepe's, Baxter and I realized as we were crossing the street that Alejandro was caught-up chatting with some Hispanic woman and her...um....very young daughter. I believe that Alejandro was just trying to be friendly and be funny, but we noticed him getting a little too friendly and all of a sudden....wham! The policia ran over towards him on the corner of Juarez and Revolucion (where Baxter and I were standing waiting for the signal to walk) and stopped Alejandro in his tracks. Two policia turned into 3, then 4 and soon we had 6 policia and 2 vehicles. The woman across the street was yelling profanities at Alejandro and giving him the finger. She left the area with her daughter moments later after she called the police over towards Alejandro.
