I went by last week. The door was nailed shut; looks like the club had been closed for some time.
Deja Vu in Tijuana may head into the same fate after a few years.

The turf war started the minute El Chapo was apprehended which was a while back. I find that Borderland Beat is more current because it seems to be managed by Mexicans where the violence affect every day life instead of impacting only American tourists.
For safety, I used to monitor Borderland and keep my ears open for the level of security in the Zona. From low to high, increase police presence, intense paramilitary police presence, Mexican Army soldiers on patrol, Mexican Marines roadblocks, Mexican Marines patrol at platoon strength (13 Marines at a time).
American news sources tend to be 6 months behind.
Have avoided the Zona for the past few weeks due to increased violence. Have moved my mongering with HK chicas to off site activities with my network of favs (Whats App). Was in town for my weekly visit on Friday, October 7, 2016 (12:00 meet at Ley Market behind Dejavu). Routine, BofA past McDonalds (get cash), Baja-Mex (exchange $$ to Pesos), back on the 5 south to enter Tijuana (I drive in and drive out). WTF, traffic? Something new! Never before! I was slowly moving forward in my vehicle, all vehicles / all lanes entering Tijuana border crossing where being stopped and questioned / vehicle inspections. Motorcycle riders back packs where open / inspected. When it was my turn, I showed the CBP officer my SENTRI card and he did not speak and waved me through! Well, I am still having fun and saving $$ No meseros (fishas / tip Nazis). I miss the HK bar seen. The GFE have elevated to PSE levels. Will the violence escalate? Probably. Be safe amigos / gringos. I still love Mexico.

Once in a while tips would come into CBP office, that a big load of drug cash or automatic weapons will be trying to cross the border at the busiest time of the week, I. E. Friday afternoon after 6 PM.
CBP would schedule extra inspectors, 2 per lane at the camera rows under the canopy, checking all cars before they enter Mexico. Never heard any significant bust with those special efforts. A few years back they did catch a guy carrying close to $1 M cash in a back pack, walking across the border.

In Mexico, cash would follow to reward the police for their fine work, and start a relationship. Let's hope that internal affairs keep everyone honest.

There were reports in the press that US DEA and Mexico's policias were using tips from the Sinaloa Cartel, I. E. El Chapo, to bust the other cartels. Arellano Felix and his brothers of the Tijuana cartel were caught and their operation in Baja was busted that way.
After DEA busted the Tijuana cartel, they turned and focused on the Sinaloa cartel. It's life.

I drove back on SENTRI lane next the Ped East building this morning.
Chain link fence for construction has been erected all along the walking path back to the old metal turnstile gate. The old Ped East building seems to have been completely removed.
Can you still cross back on foot via Ped East?
