Hi friends, I'm wondering why there are almost no information on mongering in Laoag.

I read on more than one travel forum that Laoag is considered a primary mongering destination, mainly for asian customers.
On the Lonely Planet is indicated that "entertainment" district in Laoag is called Discolandia, and it should be not a family district... such as a rld.

Any suggestion?
Any hotel tip?

I was there about 9 years ago. At least then it was it was itself a not especially attractive little town with not much going on. There is a casino complex just outside the city which attracts loads of Chinese and other gamblers. For sure there will also be girls there to provide additional services. But I think unless you are ome sort of package its not a very economical place to stay.

Ask a tricycle driver or check out some of the Karaoke places. Several flights each day from Manila and R / T airfare approx. P4, 000. Food was excellent, and cheap.

Planning a few days in Baguio and surrounding areas for the next few days. It's a long time since I went up there anyone got any tips for comfortable places to stay? Ideally with wifi access? I believe Baguio is quite developed now so may move on to Banaue or Segada. 10 years ago that was quite a long trip but maybe the road has improved? Not to worried about the girl situation as I have a nice hot girl from Manila who has volunteered to come with me. Setting out from Angeles.

Sorry no info on girls in Palawan as I brought my filipina gf with me. Just arrives a a day ago and its 1am here but my body tells me its 7am.

I had this freak thing to me happen on my long flight from USA. My feet swelled up enormously and have red blotts everywhere. I understand its from the altitude in the plane and lack of movement in my leags from sitting in one place for over 17hrs. From looking on the internet I hear the remedy is keeping my feet elevated, drink fluids and no alchohol. Not to fun.

Its been raining daily here for the past week so hope it clears up so we can have some fun.

Was there earlier this year.

Elizabeth Hotel is not a bad place had free wifi.

Was also in San Fernadao La Union at a small beach resort, cheap and cheerful, had the whole week with Cebu favourite, sat by the ocean etc. Well not all the time, again free wifi and Baguio about an hour up the road and certainly warmer than Baguio. Nice strawberries though and for a pinay who has never seen them. Wonderful treat and great brownie points. Also Cebu fav bought penis shaped key rings for her sister.

Road to Baguio is OK but slow, took us around 9 hours to get back to Manila (but then 2 hours were spent in Manila trying to get to Cubao and Pasay!). But road is fine, when you get closer to Baguio then very slow and winding, lots of hills and limited overtaking. So take lots of food / nibbles and water

Was in Palawan about 6 months ago. There were 3 places that I remember. One was Phoenix, its on a road perpendicular to the main road leaving the airport heading into town (close to the airport). The 2nd was actually on that main road. Can't remember the name, but if you are heading into town from the airport, its on the left side (which is the same side that the road Phoenix is on). The third was called Golden Bell or something like that. A friend took me. Its away from the main town.

The setup at the first 2 are basically bars with about 30 girls with numbered tags. Every once in a while (when people come in) the mama puts on this song and the girls do this "runway" routine allowing everyone to see them as they walk around the stage and "pose". Then you tell the mama which one you want. After that, its like any other bar. Bf available of course although I can't remember how much. I do remember it being more expensive than I thought it would be. Closer to makati prices.

The 3rd bar. Golden bell, is more like a large compound with little "Nipa" huts. Basically a sort of park bench with 1/2 walls and a roof. You are "outside" vice being in a bar. More local style I suppose. Mama brings girls around until you choose which one you like. This bar was cheaper than the first 2 (go figure). I didn't take out but my friend did. The first 2 are very easy to get to. Any trike should be able to take you to it. The 3rd, I'm not sure. You probably have to go with someone who knows. Puerto Princessa is not a big city so you will likely pick up the lay of the land fast.

My advice: have dinner at Kinnebuch's (food is excellent) on the main road. When you leave, stay on that side, turn right and leisurely walk towards the airport. The 2nd bar is about 10 or 15 mins walk. Otherwise, grab a trike and go to Phoenix. From Kinnebuch it should be between 10 30 peso (you negotiate).

Pierre, when you say bike trip. Do you mean mortorbike or bicycle?

I was planning on renting a mortorbike while in Puerto Princessa from Pitstop Bikes but noticed his Jeep parked at the Hibiscus Hotel that I looked into previously but seemed too expensive. I called Arnold the owner of Pitsop and inquired about the Jeep. I was able to rent it for 4-days including a one way trip to El Nido for $8000P. His shop is located in El Nido so it worked out good for him to get his jeep back.

The Hibiscus Hotel took care of the rental contract and I would also suggest this hotel to stay in.

Thanks for the info. I'm doing a Motorbike trip early feb on the end of 5 weeks in the Philippines. I've done many, many similar trips in Thai, Cambo, Laos and Myanmar over the last 7 years and I thought I'd give The Philippines a try. Hiring a bike out of Angeles City as will for three weeks. Wish me luck, I'll report back.

Is El Nido. 6-7 hour mini bus ride form puerto or a real real expensive flight from Manila. The resturants on the beach front are real good. The boat rides around El Nido is just spectaular. Make Hailong Bay in Vietmnam look over rated. Best place to book boat, dive, and eat is Art cafe run by a swiss gal and her filino husband. The husband is real nice and wife, I reccomend dealing with the husband. AVOID Marina beach hotel. Owned and run by the most horrible person I ever met in all my travels and incompitent staff. Elnido is just amazing.

There's a night club that stays open till morning but it's a bring your own girl place. There are a couple of flights a week to Puerto Princesa from Cebu and daily flights from Manila. Then it's a five hour mini bus trip to El Nido. There may be pickings available in Puerto Princesa (I had my gf with me so didn't investigate) but I wouldn't go to Palawan hoping to find decent company there. Much better to travel with your own companion.

Make sure you take lots of cash (pesos) with you to El Nido. There's no banks and no ATM's. And few places accept credit cards, not even the hotels. There are a couple of places that will change dollar notes for pesos but the exchange rate is outrageous.

The scenery around El Nido is magnificent. Well worth the effort to get there.
