When the camera came out she got really enthusiastic. She is only little at 4ft something but had a great attitude. Afterwards she wanted me to come back to her room for a longer session, and when I said I did not have time she wanted to go and have coffee with me. It was raining when we left and she shared her umbrella and cuddled up to me as we walked down the street. Unfortunately I had to go and check out of my hotel (and I didn't get her number) or I would have loved to stay with her.

In fact, last time I went there was a couple of years ago but many things are still the same (that's what I heard.).

From Harbourfront it takes less than an hour by ferry. In the morning you leave and yes you can be back the same night. There are several ferry-operators (Penguin?) and the return ticket should cost you no more than $50. However, I recommend you to spend a night in Batam, because else you will miss much of the nightlife.

Take a hotel room in the Nagoy-district, the place to B. In fact it's the center of Batam with shopping malls, restaurants, hotels (from $50 up). And of course many bars, pubs, massage-joints. Many of them open early at noon.

Although there are buses in Batam, the easiest way for you to get around is by taxi. Mind that there are some real jerks amongst the taxi-drivers.

I think you will enjoy, just go and have fun. It's much cheaper than here (overnight with a gal will cost you about $50).

You cannot book a room at any hotel in Singapore without showing an ID. The best way to get around this is have the girl show her ID- they always have it. Plus this gives you a chance to confirm that she is of age and legally in the country.

Have no idea how you can pay $25 to take a taxi there- even from Changi, it's less than that.

Thai fishbowls are $50 if you insist on the local price, or get a Cat80 girl from one of the in-call places. Even the PRC fishbowls can be fun and good value, if you pick the right girl.

Pimps on the street generally are going to charge you the most and any time you pay in advance, you are going to get crappy services. Sorry you had a bad time, but that's sometimes the price of checking out a new place.

As someone who used to love the long strolls around the back Lors of Geyland - until the LE got carried away 18 months or so ago - I was expecting the worst on my current trip.

Forced to stay in the suburb due to the accommodation blowout (volcano) I've had plenty of opportunity to check out the neighbourhood at various hours.

Two nights ago soon after midnight I went for a walk from Lor 14 to 12 and 10. Outside Hotel 101 was a sight for sore eyes - at least 50 girls yapping in Tagalog, a mix of shapes and sizes, all in the 5 to 7 category and certainly eager to look after a Caucasian.

Back on 14 there were fewer girls, but the quality was stunning. I'm guessing they were PRC and the worst of them had to be an 8. One young thing had long curly golden hair, high heels, black microshorts (if you need any further fuel for the imagination, these were so tiny she definitely did not have a landing strip), and an equally skimpy black halter top. And that was all. Another had an uncharacteristically large chest for a Chinese girl, another a micro dress... and so on....

At the Guillaume (spelling?) Rd end there were several quite passable ladyboys for those of that persuasion.

So I kept walking and at 18, on the walking street running parallel to Geylang Rd was approached in he shadows by a cute chick in an orange mini-dress who said she was from Sri Lanka and offered a session for $50. I was tempted, but having done the deed only an hour earlier (that's another posting) decided against it. Last time I met a similarly young, long haired Bangladeshi girl in the same place she'd given me the starfish treatment and I didn't like my chances that her enthusiasm would carry through to the bed...

I have a theory: Last week there was a long feature in the local Sunday Times about residents of other suburbs complaining of increasing SW activity in their neighbourhoods since the Geylang LE clampdown. I've also noticed this trip that the Lors and cross lanes have all been tidied up with lots of new sealing and paint thrown around. Many of the legal places have undergone a facelift and seem cleaner, fresher and brighter.

My theory is the authorities did a deal with the legal places that if they cleaned their houses up, the cops would 'clean' the streets up. Now the deed has been done there's pressure coming from other parts of town to let the illegals do their stuff in Geylang and thus protect everyone else's suburban purity.... The authorities know only too well that the SWs will always be around, always need to have some place to work - because there's demand for them. So it's best to let them do their thing.

If I'm right we might see further "improvements" in the range and offer on the Lors of G.

Let's hope so.

Unfortunately, as the past 1-2 years have shown and I have witness several raids myself (including one in OT towers of all places), the downhill spiral of Geylang will continue as most SW who were caught were immediately shipped out and blacklisted from reentry. So as times passes and by word of mouth spreads in their home countries, less and less ladies will risk spending money to get to Sgn just to be deported later. As a long time fan of Geylang, I wish for the old days but sadly they are gone. The legal houses there are ok, but the main reason for my visit there was for the SW scene.

I too used to love walking around Geylang and picking SWs. I knew where the Indo gals were, the PRC gals, the Thais, Sri Lankans, and Bangladeshis. Sometimes even some local Singapore gals. That was the good part, the variety.

Times have changed though. The Thai gals are all pimped. They are inside a room in a building hotel and the pimp takes you to see them or a few of them. I rarely went with this option because if I wanted a Thai gal, why not just go to a legit house. The bule/gweilo/angmo price at the legit houses has almost always been S$80. Sometimes over a holiday like CNY they asked for $100. I don't think they bargain down to local Chinese price for Anglos.

As for SWs, the crackdown and influx of Chinese SWs has taken away the variety. Now I find 80% are PRC SWs. I never liked PRC gals because all they care about is the money. 99/100 it will not be GFE, just give me the money and get it done as quick as possible. (I've lived in China so know PRC gals pretty well).

Anyway, most of the SWs except PRC are gone in off hours. Evenings can still be ok, but just not the way it once was.

And to the other poster that said he saw lots of PI girls and heard tagalog, I think he mistook Indo gals and bahasa because there are not alot of PI girls as SW in Geylang.

Problem is that I only stop in Singapore on my way to BKK so the Geylang hotel prices always draw me to that area. Means I have more money for the real fun in BKK.

Orchard Towers is always good fun, I agree. However I have heard of some smaller places such as Thai Disco. Does any one know where this place is or even if is worth a visit?? I checked the threads and could find no reference although a friend said it is good.

Any ideas please?

I've heard good things but never managed to visit.
