Jakarta - Hotels

Morrissey was just perfect for the hobby, location-wise and GF. Walk of shame (WOS) almost non existant if you are return at 3am. 4am like I usually do. Hardy anyone in sight, not even security.

Trendy design, fully equipped kitchenette and functional free laundrette (which saves a lot of rupiah when it comes to laundry expenses, meals etc). The room rate was approx USD 69 via Agoda, but now it's showing USD 110+ for the duration of my next trip.

Question. How is Favehotel just down the road? I know the rooms are smaller, no kitchenette, fridge, laundrette. But for USD 51, I am willing to consider.

How does it compare in terms of GF and WOS?

Akhmani is my third option at USD 87.

The big plus from Akmani is that you can enter the hotel from the garage directly to the floor of your room so no one sees you bring your hot girlfriend / hooker for the night.

I stayed at the Akmani about 2 years ago.

Nice and GF friendly.

But what I do not like.

The wall between the bedroom and bathroom was only a glas wall.

Also from the toilet you could watch to the bed.

So no privacy.

What a waste! Evidently the monorail developer began construction before he received full approval from the Indonesian government. Evidently he expected to bribe his way into getting the permission, but he ended up not getting approval from the government.

2) Yes, there are some soil issues, but if Bangkok, Thailand can have an underground subway, then the technology is there to enable Jakarta to have a subway. In 2008, there was a draft design for the subway, turns out most of it would have been above ground (from Senayan outwards) , but it still would have helped to move people in and out of Jakarta more quickly than now.

3) Back in 2007 I was at a seminar where one of the presenters showed a satellite infrared image of the drop in the ground water throughout Jakarta. While a lot of water extraction had taken place throughout downtown, the one spot where the most groundwater had been extracted (thus reducing the water table) was the area around the Bintang brewery! Evidently Bintang was pumping water from underground instead of using the city water supply. Supposedly the elevation of downtown Jakarta has dropped at least half a meter in recent year from a combination of heavy buildings and extraction of groundwater.

4) The easiest way to see evidence of the drop in the ground water level is to go to Sarinah Plaza in central Jakarta (which was built on piles back in the 1960s). You almost need a stepladder to step up from the parking lot onto the first step! The upper floors of the Sarinah building were closed for several months in 2006-07 so that the building could be reinforced. Also, in 2008 there was an article in the news about cracks in the small shack housing the ATMs on the north side of Sarinah, since that housing is not built on the same foundation as the rest of the building.

5) After the notorious flood of February 2007, when 2/3rds of Jakarta was underwater (in some places by as much as 3 meters) , a group of water experts from the University of Delft, Holland, prepared a computer simulation that demonstrated that, if the canal system built by the Dutch before World War II had been regularly dredged and properly maintained, that there would have been no flooding in Jakarta lasting more than a couple of hours.[/QUOTE]This is a picture I made last summer at Sunda Kelapa.

Twenty years ago the quay was above water level. Since then they have had to build a wall on top of the quay to prevent flooding. The wall is nearly a metre high and te water level is less than 20 cm from the top.

They only want to check how many come for breakfast under your voucher. To give a better idea of my sampling, I have stayed in over twenty different hotels in Jakarta over the years (none of them Syariah of course). I have gone up to the room with three girls at one time and had four different girls come over a 24 hour period. Not once have I had any problems from the hotel. In some cases, security accompanied them to my room to check if I really was accepting visitors, but that's as far as it goes.

Actually it's owned by a private company.

The issue is not that they do not get the approval for running monorail.

They issue is, they want government to guarantee turnout or subsidize the ticket price to ensure ROI.

Neither is approved, what I hear now they are planning to change the line to serve cibubur to jakarta.

coincidentally: in my paper (dutch volkskrant) today there was a big article about the new governor of jakarta. he seems to have made a pretty harsh speech to the heads of various departments in jakarta about the rampant corruption and what he intends to do about it. remains to be seen how long the police will take to fabricate some ludicrous charges against him in order to neutralize him.

The Vice Gov did receive a lot of backlash from some people claiming that his uproar is inappropriate.

I think one of the reason that Both the Governor and Vice Governor upload their meeting is to prevent what happen in the KPK.

If people can see all their action, it make it harder to make false accusation.

Was in Jakarta again last week.

Stayed in the Batavia Appartments, which is close to Sudirman, like 10 minutes max from Bats. Could actually see the Shangri La from my window.

Took a 1 King bedroom, which I paid around 60€ for one night.

Nice Value. Hotel is old, but clean, room is big with a separate living room area. Bathroom small, but clean.

Overall condition of the hotel is old but well maintained. Sort of MILF. One last detail they give you a physical key. That and the 70's like lobby made me feel younger, like I was in Indonesia in the 60"s.

Pool is fantastic. Breakfast average. Staff helpful, but sometimes not so efficient. 24 hour room service, which is a plus. Food was actually ok.

Had a high floor room with a nice view, and the 1 hour BJ my cutie gave me while sitting on the couch and staring at the view was just outstanding.

Cutie was a 30 why widow from Asiandating whom I had seen a few times over cam for some extended show of our private parts and arousing techniques. She came to the room one hour after I arrived and only left 36 hours later after we fucked something like 6 or 7 times, I lost count. I love Indonesian women.

Will I return? Yes if my fave places in Kuningan are either too expensive or fully booked as was the case last week.

Ah, yes, there is a walk of shame. But at night staff is sleeping.

I was looking for a ministay (3 to 6 hours) hotel in the Melawai area. Golden Boutique doesn't provide that service anymore and My Place (Bali Hai) doesn't exist anymore. Any info where I can find a hotel like that in the Melawai area?

Otherwise check in without luggage, reserve and pay for a day and check out after a few hours.
