A little strange but I would not consider Kiev the paradise for sex tourism.

I wonder what are you afraid of? Foreigners are met like heroes at Maidan. And you are traveling to show your support to Ukraine.

People that are standing there get money and food, for that they need to show true passion for they country and for the rest of the world. Forget BBC coverage of protests in Kiev. This is international politics and EU is just one side of the story.

It might be not that convinient to stay in Kiev right now, but heyy you will see part of the history With Your own eyes.

all day yesterday there was a much larger police / military presence all over kiev. in the night the police tried to and succeeded in getting through the blockades that had been setup by the protestors. the police did not use any force but just pushed through the barricades and tried to break them down. by the morning a lot of people / protestors showed up and and the police backed off. by the end of the day the police had completely disappeared. they are afraid of the people. i don't think the police is going to try and use force again. but obviously i can't be sure. maidan is once again full of protestors and once again it's a concert like atmosphere. i've been there on sunday. when there were approx. 200, 000 people there. i was also there today also when there were probably 20,000 people. the atmosphere is the same. lots of singing and dancing, and speeches, including many speeches by americans and europeans.

at no point in the last few days have i felt unsafe or not been able to get to where i wanted. there were big delays with taxis and road traffic on tuesday in the day but that was due to snow on monday night and tuesday. a couple of girls that were coming to my apartment were very late but they did show up. no girl i talked to said no to coming to my apartment. also, as of today the metro is working fine. caveat: this is what i've heard as i hardly use the metro in kiev.

buddha bar has been dead all the nights i visited. d'lux is also suffering as both these places are closer to maidan and as a result suffering. i imagine patipa would be the same. but places around arena city have all been normal though sunday / monday / tuesday most places are closed. rio had a lot of hot girls on monday night and the high end karaoke places like just cafe and serebero were all crowded too. with lots of single girls around.

kf, if you're going for just one day and absolutely have to be back after 1 day, then maybe it's not worth the risk. if you don't mind being delayed by a day (in my opinion that's the worst that can happen) or you're concerned about general safety, i would say don't worry as i found kiev to be safer than usual in the last few days.

i'm headed back to london tomorrow morning. will let you know if anything changes tonight.

Here is a good picture report of downtown, mainly Kreschatik street. Looks terrible. I wouldn't visit Kiev now. I usually live on Mikhaylovskaya street and walk around Kreschatik a lot. Now everything is blocked. Right now, if someone wants to visit, try to stay away from downtown, but then there's not much to see. Main activities, bars, restaurants, sightseeing is over there.

Don't speak about things you know from press only.

Come and see for yourself. Yes, things are blocked and ripped apart, but not soo different from the usual. Caos.

And what do you mean not so different? I spend majority of time on Kreschatik street when I visit. Can I do it now? No.
