Just wanted to share some inside information about Rio. It's managements intention to close down the club sometime in 2014. That's why the sister club was created so business could be moved out of center. A complete eyesore to the German embassy across the street and a shame to all of Kiev's visitors and locals. However, if this revolution gets a true footing, it might be able to stay open beyond 2014. So lets hope for a new family of political crooks so we can keep the tourist trap alive.

Rio closing? OMG
It's a pity if this is true. Kiev has gotten worse and worse over the last years but Rio was always (for me!) same level. I don't understand why the best clubs always close! First Ceyclone (Dubai) about 8 years ago, then River Boat (about 4 years ago) , then Rattlesnake (Dubai) about 2 years ago and now Rio. Hopefully they keep their 2 other clubs, otherwise no reason for me to come back.

My connections have informed me that a lot of the sex workers have returned to the provinces due to the lack of business. The real workers of the business are exploring their options outside of Ukraine. I'm not sure why, but Poland and Hungary seem to be a destination and of course Russia. Strange, since they are poor countries.
On the plus side, more Ukrainians should be showing up in Europe.

I just wanted to share some advice about customs in Kiev. After dozens of trips, someone actually pulled me aside at the airport and made me count my cash money. It did not lead to any problems because I only had $3000 but it did [CodeWord140] me off. This ice princess Soviet relic did manage to put some fear in me that I was going to get ripped off.

Hello Leggio,
Where did you get this information from? What is the reason that they are closing? Is the decision final? What is the connection to recent political situation with it? Very pity if its true.
Kind regards.

For the time being, the militia is no longer cracking down on older guys walking around with sweet things. Sounds meaningless, but you can now look for dirty and dark places to make woopie late night after drinking in the clubs.
A bad news. Rakuena closed permanently because of problem with milita. Now sister company 5rooms is running. Today went maidan and kreshatic. Nothing dangerous. All ok.
When will Rakuena open again? Or will they? I have been there sometimes and got very good service from Lina. I will go back to Kiev in January and would like to meet Lina again. Are there any who knowes what she is doing now and if it is possible to get in touch with her.

Have you guys noticed that girls have stopped sticking out their tongues in night club photos and signaling the v sign? Kiev's counter sexual culture is going the way of the dodo.

and 2 times they ask me to just show them my money

Hey Leggia, you try to say party is over in Kiev?
Hey Leggia, you try to say party is over in Kiev?
It's Leggio with an o. Still a party, just not while protesters occupy the streets.
If you go Kiev, be extremely careful by the Arena City area on Friday and Saturday night. Young punks from provinces congregate there, get drunk, and often times get into the face of foreigners. Also, if you make the trip, keep in mind the mood of sex workers has basically been crushed.
I don't understand. I would think this would be a buyer's market. You think otherwise?

Dirty dark alleys
Not true.
I got caught a while ago near kreshatik. Not so nice. Spend some $$$ to get rid of very angy officers.
