Shanghai is no longer worth the time or money. I have more fun in Beijing. Even other cities are having too much 'bad weather'.

That is not enough. In the area between Portman and People's Park, whiile I was walking 4 old ladies approached me in the street offering me sex in the park (after I replied I had no hotel nearby) for prices ranging from 300 to 100.
While it was tempting for me (long-time pervert of any kind anywhere in the world) to get a BJ behind a bush in the darkness of a public garden, this time in Shanghai, and for 100 when people pays 1500 or 2000 for women found in Manhattan bar, I rejected the offers. Yes, I am cautious at times.

Surprisingly for me, the only decent ladies I met were right outside my hotel in the commercial area Pudong near the big skyscrapers.

They have zero incentive to do a good job because they know or think your traveling through and not a potential repeat customer. And they don't care about their reputation since they don't work for an agency and you have no one to complain to. They will upsell you in the room, and they will rush. They will rush big time. BTW, if they insist on going to a bar or to their place, then it's a scam 99% of the time.

M and J's are usually better at 130 than you say they are now. I believe what you are saying. I can verify 130-3:00 am usually are filled with the girls coming back through for a second customer. If you are down to 3-4 options, that is not what I have ever seen there. Granted, I usually go Friday and Saturday night. If you were there on a Monday or Tuesday it would be lighter. Sunday can also be hit and miss but stilll better than what you are talking about.
If you have time, hit M / J's between 1030 and midnite as steve stated. With the bad weather, it may not be any better however.

When I first moved to China 8 years ago, there were BBBs everywhere, at many MPs everything was available, and saunas operated in the open. Now there are no BBSs, MPs mostly only offer handjobs, and saunas operate discreetly. So, China today is definitely not a sex tourism destination. But if one knows China well, then one can figure out ways to monger. For me, my primary MO is that I collect WeChat contacts of MP gals and later text them to try to meet at their homes, and my success rate is about 30 percent. But for someone just traveling through, this method to get laid just takes too much effort and time. When you call them, they somehow will know if you're staying at the hotel alone or with family. Sometimes, they just ask me if I'm alone. Once they know you're alone, they'll send up a gal that is willing to offer FS. BUT,.
(1) Be prepared to pay for it. Usually, they will not settle for something less than 2000 tip. One girl started negotiations at 8000 LOL. So, including the massage fee, we are talking about 2500.
(2) They are usually a 3. Or someone whose best days are behind them. Of course you can decline, but how often do we really do that?
(3) They will ask how many days you're staying. So say you're staying for at least 2 weeks. Otherwise they will rush and / or give you poor service. Hell, they might do that anyway since you're likely a one-off.
(4) They often try to upsell you. Maybe you settle on 2000, and then you ask for a BJ and she'll say that's 500 extra.
(5) They are big-time clock watchers. The session starts once she's in the room, so don't waste time with the massage. Just start the negotiations right away. She will leave exactly on time, probably because her manager is monitoring the clock.
(6) Finally, this option exists primarily at Chinese hotels. It rarely exists or doesn't exist at a Marriott or similar, for example. At Western hotels, maybe a handjob is available at best, but again at a ridiculous tip.
Two parting comments. First, you might think it isn't worth it, but these girls are at your door within minutes of you calling. So it's super convenient. Second, I'm always surprised when no one writes reports on their room service experiences. I usually do. I've gotten laid every time I tried room service from within a Chinese hotel and wrote a report. So, please report. That would be your way of thanking me for my taking the time to write this.

I am Chinese, fluent in Mandarin, but moved to USA long time ago, and believe it or not, actually never mongered in China. I will only be in Shanghai for one night.
So if I order in-house spa girl to my room, does this show up on final hotel receipt? I hope not, as it may look suspicious when I do my travel reimbursement, LOL.
A quick internet check revealed a spa at Ramada inn 10 minutes from Pudong Airport. Also a "Trip Advisor" report to avoid it because the staff was pushing him to go for "beautiful girls". Also Monica spa does outcall in Puxi. They declare "no breast push" but for 1600 a body slide is offered. 600 is the starting point.

Any specific reason ordering room service is better than going down to in-house spa? At least we get to see the lineup when going to in-house spa, right?
