The two major train stations in Seoul are Seoul Station & Cheongnyangni. A train from one of these stations to almost anywhere in mainland South Korea is possible. Express bus routes from Seoul to all the major city destinations are available from the Seoul Express Bus Station just south of the Banpo Bridge in Gangnam. Go to the stations or use the web / apps for Korail or Kobus to arrange tickets in advance.

Once in a major city, it is fairly trivial to use the local subway, buses, taxis, or Ubers to get around. Kakao also has a number of mobility apps for locals and foreigners. For example, K. Ride allows a foreigner without a local ID / credit card to hail a taxi using just the app in most locales. Some of the most far-flung remote sight-seeing destinations have smaller independent taxis not on the apps where you may need a local to help arrange a ride, but this isn't a problem in any of the major cities.

Seoul to Pohang shows a train is a little over 3 hours with 6 stops. Pohang also has an airport, so a domestic flight from Gimpo is always an option as well.

Dongducheon is about right. 90% not very desirable and even a few foreigners working in stalls. Lots of TCN factory workers hanging around.

PYT is still active, about half dozen working in the daytime and weekend nights about twice as many. Yesterday a decent looking one quoted 100 K KRW for 15 minutes, but not a fan of the RLD rushed scene, so I passed.

The post is from last December, so Miari and YDP are closed from the rumors.

You're better off booking online with an officetel or hyugetel, especially if you're Korean. RLD's are just not worth the time.
