Darling 2.

On this pass through Macau I decided to try Darling 2 (D2).

I would say the main 'problem' with D2 is its location. I had written down the address as found here and on their website. I showed that to the concierge at my hotel and asked him to write it in Chinese for the taxi driver.

He said he could not read the Portuguese name (the address is on a street with a Portuguese name) so he couldn't help. He asked for the English name. Of course there is no English name.

I finally found the street on a map and he was able to read the Chinese name and then write that down for me. And, I was off.

As soon as you enter D2 you are confronted with the 'fishbowl' just past the counter – you can't miss it. It was 6:00 pm and there were about 12 girls sitting on a stair-step arrangement so you can get a good view of each one.

The mama explained that it was 1088 MOP for 90 minutes. She asked me to pick. When I hesitated, she offered that #118 would be good. I agreed and she directed me to the counter to pay in advance. Once that was done the girl accompanied me upstairs to the room.

[/QUOTE]I had a very similar experience to yours while on a recent visit to D2 as well, only my choice, also with the help of the Mamasan, was Dai Viet. And you are correct to point out taxis are hard to come by in that neighborhood. Knowing how long a visit to D2 takes, I suggest asking your cabbie to return at the proper hour, and there will be a few extra 'patacas' in it for him. Works like a charm every time and eliminates the lengthy wait for a random cab.

I had a map, but it is quite a ways and I didn't want to walk that at night (not knowing how safe the area is). I also wanted to save my "energy" for the activities!

If you are looking for D2, the attached photo is of the sign that hangs out over the street. You can't miss it!

True that lights are not strong and that here and there one might see small groups of local hanging around.

But it is not like in the movies (or in cities with substantial crime ratio) where 2-3 people hanging aroudn are criminals wiating for their victims. I think this applies, in general and still not as a 100% rule, in Asia.

Crime is more performed as organized crime.

Maybe somebody can elaborate better, whether I am right or not.

Never had trouble or heard of it. Locals hanging out outside is normal in the early night. Talking, playing card etc. Or younger people getting ready to go to a club. This is not manila. Crime in macao and hongkong is run by the triads and tourists and are getting robbed is bad for bussiness.

Anyway from October to March I usualy walk after that its getting too hot so I usually take a taxi. Darling 2 is very much known and the drivers usually know it. Its about 15 minutes from lisboa by foot. I recommed donwloading a map on your cell phone, thats what I did in the begining. (ovi maps)

I wouldn't want to walk with you if you are that fast. I believe you can easily double the time as it is way longer than from the ferry terminal.

I agree, walking in the hot season is no fun. Safety is no issue at all at any given time.

I did the ferry package on this trip and did the Vietnamese picked by the house. I did this on a visit a few weeks prior and ended up upgrading to a Indo chick there and figured that I could do the same this time. This time I was there for the show and I was watching to see what the Vietnamese girls looked like. There were three of them and all three were very doable. Account at least 2hrs for a sauna as even if you can do a wham-bam, you want to enjoy the atmosphere a bit and choose your girl during a parade.

I am sure that if asked, the manager wil get you a girl of the model type (high price) even if off parade time.
