Interesting theory, what do you mean by "unemployable"? Looks, attitude, disease? I'm sure the various bars are loaded with sub-standard types. Hard to imagine a girl can be "unemployable" in Pattaya.

My limited experience talking with these freelancers is that they prefer that method for exactly that reason, the are free to do as they like.

The latest beach road girl I was with (who I enjoyed a second time, and have spent some "other" time with), says she has the option of working at a go go on walking street but doesn't really like it. She does a whole variety of other things with her day, besides the few hours she spends at the beach at night.

Of course many of the beach girls have other regular jobs or other obligations so the beach scene for them is a second job that fits there schedule but doesn't commit them to the control of the bar owner.

To eleborate on the Carrefour location:

If you are coming from the beach direction, travel East on Cental Pattaya Road.

Just after you pass 3rd road you will see Carrefour on your left

I've been to Pattaya twice and thought I'd seen everything, but I clearly missed this place. It looks very interesting.

10. Many hotels (even low cost ones) and restaurants now offer free wi-fi.

Carrefour, houses many establishments. First there is a home center call Home Pro, pretty much like a Home Depot ( if you are from the states ), it also houses a Super Market in which you can buy house hold items and T.V. maybe like a small Wal-Mart. There are also many small independent shops throughout the building. There is a food court, MailBox Etc... with Internet, Coffee shop, KFC, Subway Sanwiches, Swensen Ice Cream, M.K. and Fuji Restaurant, Donut shop, etc.....
Go for coffee at 94 Degree and sit and watch the ladies come and go!

Pattaya - here and now,

Currently, Freeler is in Pattaya, not doing any P4P at all, since my GF#1 lives here in a nice big house and I am well embedded so to speak. But I did take a walk with her along Beach Road and it was busy. Didn't see mant familiar faces tho.
Apart from GF#1 being here, the other major upside of Pattaya is the temperature. I'd say that now (11.15 am) it's at least 5C warmer than in Korat a couple of days ago. We had the AC going last night, I didn't ever even use a fan up in Isaan in the last three weeks!

I didn't discover Carrefour until 2 yr ago and I been going to Pattaya for over 10 yrs.

They have a great bakery and deli in the supermarket.

The new shopping center will be open soon soi 9 and Beach Rd .

Carrefour is all over Asia but they have a hard time complete with Wal-Mart in China.

I am very picky regarding women's looks, which I guess explains why I don't understand anyone settling on an ugly woman in an area with so many good looking and up.

But, clearly, observations prove, for whatever reason, plenty of guys choose them. My original post was just my observations, obviously MY observations.

This just happened. I'm staying at the southern end of Soi BuaKhao. Someone had told me of a small hotel I should check out on soi 14, near 2nd road so around 7pm, I decided to walk down there and see if I could locate it.

I had no plans to be with a woman tonight, just going to take it easy, watch Thailand play Indonesia in football, and sleep.

On my way I passed a little restaurant that said it had euro and thai food, realized I was hungry, and made a plan to eat there on the way back. Plus, therewas a pretty cute waitress that I figured would be nice to look at while I ate.

Walking along Pattaya Tai road, heading toward 2nd road, I passed two girls walking the other way, one was ok, and one was very attractive. We made prolonged eye contact (can't hold it too long or I'll fall off the curb).

After passing, I took a look back and saw her doing the same. Pretty typical encounter actually so I proceeded to run the gauntlet crossing 2nd road and a couple minutes later located the hotel I had set out for originally.

I reversed my path, risked life and limb again crossing the street, and proceeded up Pattaya Tai road. A few minutes later, I came upon the same two girls again, the pretty one was talking to a farang, he was standing in the street, she on the curb, he was holding her hands, and looking and talking very ernestly, like a salesman trying to make his quota.
