By chance I was watching the news from a Shanghai station. It was mentioned that the LE had a "joint task force meeting" where big shots brainstormed ideas to sort out the illegal entertainment issue (aka sauna and particularly KTV). I was wondering if you have seen a re-new effort to "cleanse the street". For those who have connections, have you heard talks of another LE campaign to raid "entertainment venues"?

Always worth calling before if you after a specific girl. She is also likely to ge a bonus for that and will love you even more for it. Also worth getting a girls cell number. They can be pretty responsive and will tell you when / if they are working.

I'd add that you should tell the front desk people you want girl #61 (or whatever number). The girl will definitely get a bigger cut of the money. Once you get into a routine of picking her number up front (assuming you like to frequent the same girl), you can expect much better service.

After trying girls from most of the provinces in China, I can give you my personal opinion of the ones you mention:
Sichuan: Normally, the best service IMHO
Fujian: Supposedly give the best HJ. Many of the HJ only joints are staffed by girls from Fujian.
Harbin: Dongbei girls are a favorite among local and overseas Chinese punters since they are generally taller and have that specific look that appeals to this consumer group.
Hubei: Overall, I've had poor service from this group. Many I have done have been in a hurry and/or tried to overcharge me.
Jiangsu: I've only done a few so I cannot render an opinion.
You also get quite a few Zhejiang girls in Shanghai since it is close. Again, I've not done enough of these to judge.
We get a lot of Hunan and Hubei girls down South. IMHO, the Hunan girls are a close second to Sichuan in terms of service.
Obviously, YMMV.

The one I remember had really white skin and probably 1.72m or so, tall for a Chinese chick. The thing is the Shanghainese say Sichuan girls are pretty and have nice skin, but I don't really see that. I think if I had a category that I would go for repeatedly in the future it would be the Dongbei girls just because of their fair skin.

Sorry have to post this here but there is no specific hotel thread for Shanghai. Will be in Shanghai with a friend end of the month for 3 nights. Looking at Haiyatt 99 Qinjiang Road(not Hyatt) and Anting Villa Hotel, Anting road. I'm not familiar with both hotel and location. Any input is welcome eg shops close by etc. This is a holiday trip. Or suggestion for another hotel is also good. Looking at rates of RMB400-600/night.
