Although the driver may not have a damn clue about directions, imagine taxi drivers are bad enough over against the average uber citizen. Even though they use GPS that makes no difference. When the GPS says 'turn right in 400 meters, the driver will immediately turn right. Such is the brainpower of alot of filipinos.

General rule of thumb for directions in the phils, if they say go this way, do a 180 and go in the opposite direction. Better chance of finding what you are looking for.

Would someone please give a "from the ground floor up" explanation of Uber. Other than it is the German word for over, I have no idea how it works. I live a very insulated life and I mean that. You do not pay the driver directly, riders receive a receipt via email within a couple of minutes of the ride's end. The receipt comes from the Netherlands. I typically use Uber in Manila twice a day and like the service very much. It's convenient, reasonably inexpensive and the cars are clean and comfortable.

Just as an aside, I took an Uber car to my office in Ortigas from my hotel in Makati this morning. As usual, the service was efficient, inexpensive and timely.
