I went to HK Saturday but arrived at 4 am this time. I was prepared with a dental invitation for the next day when I attempted to cross the border.
There was no one staffing the normal booths for international walk-ins.
They took me straight to that BIG officer who said my dental appointment is for next day so I need to come back.
He said I can get $30 visa for 6 months.
When I asked him for a better deal he offered 24 hrs visa (a bribe) for $20.
I paid $20 and got into Mexico with the intention that next time I will have same day appointment and assuming border will be open in October.
But with delta variant I might have made a mistake and should have paid $30 for FMM.
So advice. If you are going to use dental appointment. Make sure that it is for the same day as you are entering.
