the papasan called the girl for me at sayuri, but i still got the local pricing. i think that was because he saw me talking to the euro guy (who had been there several times before) and knew i wasn't going to be conned into paying higher prices. so i was charged 1300b without discussion at the cashier's window for the "m" girl i picked.

one thing i read elsewhere regarding sayuri: don't let a tuk-tuk bring you to this place; your price may get bumped 500b which goes to the tuk-tuk driver as commission. not an issue for me as i walked there. good exercise, that, not too hot at this time of year. it was implied that this goes for pandora as well. i'll see if i can get around to there before i leave town.

i went to star six: the 150b entry fee includes your first drink so it's not that bad a deal. it was quiet at 9:30pm or so, just 6 girls present and a few customers. but patience prevailed, the crowd and the action does eventually pick up. you can do some mutual groping with the girls when you buy lds for them. not sure all of them will do that, but mine did. lds were 80b (they look like tiny glasses of non-alcoholic punch), bf is 500b + 1500b tip for st. i wasn't feeling well so i passed and did not try to negotiate, but some of the girls are doable. i was also told there are st rooms on the premises: takes another 350b to book one of those. maybe they're using the rooms from the massage parlor downstairs?

Saturdays at 11 there is a show reminiscent to soi cowboy with pasties however, not too bad. I mean for Chiang Mai.

First visit to Sayuri Center / first encounter in SEA, and something of a disappointment. I'm pretty sure I got the wrong place, faced with closed doors and dark rooms I wandered around until I got pulled into the massage place on the fourth floor. Not quite sure if I was in the right place or not at first I accepted a massage from one of the three women there. 300B for an oil massage + 500B for what turned out to be a CBJ. Massage was OK, she made the right moves but seemed to lack conviction / didn't do them hard enough. She stripped a piece at a time during the massage, then did a CBJ which was adequate but unexceptional (I had to think of something else to get off in the end), before completing the massage / donning one piece per section of the massage. I find it hard to complain much for 800B, but not really what I was expecting.

I think I should have gone straight ahead after climbing the first set of stairs (taking the left-hand flight). The door was closed which was why I didn't, but I probably should have knocked / pushed it open.

Advice for those avoiding the 500B taxi surcharge: The 'Siam Royal Orchid' marks where you should turn from Charoen Muang Road to Bumram Road (and might be a good place to tell your taxi to drop you), but it has no English signage. It's a big bank with a bird symbol, if you need to recognise it.

Right place but wrong floor...you should have entered either of the tinted doors. The one on the left goes into a lounge and you just need to go towards the back and around the partition to the fishbowl. The one on the right goes directly into the fishbowl area.

Going up, up the stairs takes you to the 'traditional' thai massage not the soapie/fishbowl.

It's been awhile for me...i usually pay between 1000b-1300b depending on the girls letter.

Between Foxy/Spotlight/StarSix...i prefer StarSix. It's dark but your eyes adjust after awhile and it's a good idea to pick a gal after getting a better view of her while she's on stage.

Overall, i just like the atmosphere, the girls outfits and the look of the girls better at StarSix.

Chiang Mai Review:

Bangkok built my confidence up and then chiang mai knocked it back down. I only shagged 1 girl and got a rub and tug one time, although admittedly both were very nice. But a couple nights I went out with a wad of condoms and money in my pocket determined to have some fun and came back with it all still there. My only consolation was text messaging a couple of the girls I met in Bangkok, wishing I was there with them. All in all, not a good place to go if you want some warmth and companionship.

The girls have more of a lighter, Chinese look rather than the exotic tan looks you see more down south.

Starsix: unattractive thick girls with thunder thighs. I didn't stay too long

Spotlight: 2 or 3 girls were pretty attractive, but I didn't take anyone

Foxy Lady: 1 or 2 attractive girls, but stayed in the corner the whole time

Loh Kroh Beer bars:

Most of the bars had 2 or 3 cute girls.

I don't know if I was doing something wrong, but I couldn't get the girls to warm up to me. They were all friendly to get you into the bar, but then they'd go cold and lose interest once I had sat down and ordered a drink. A lot of them just didn't seem too friendly.

Is the trick to proposition the girls standing outside instead of sitting down and ordering a drink? Are a lot of the girls just not barfineable?

On my last night I was sitting with a girl at a beerbar around closing time and then she said she doesn't go home with any guys and will only sleep with a guy who's her boyfriend. So that about summed it up for me. I walked home alone.

Chiang Mai was almost like being back in the US.

Agreed! Went there almost everyday during my last 2 weeks visit in July. Loved it. Cute, interesting (because with a different background) girls. I found the line-up to be much better than at Pandora. Most don't speak English and their massage skills are very limited most of the time so it's a good idea to go for oil. My experience is that some offered FS for 1K though. Did indulge a few times.
Finding it was a bit tricky. It's the building opposite Pandora basically. Just go inside from either side and look for the stairs at the left side of the "reception" when facing it.
It'd be great to have a similar place in Bangkok.

Brief review of the three main GoGos in Chiang Mai (only been once to each)

Spotlight: Pretty girls sort of dancing around some poles. Nice atmosphere, a good 'default'.

Foxy Lady: I was not impressed. Relatively plain girls dancing in a very lackadaisical fashion and not all that friendly.

Star XIX: They're right about it being dark, and the flashing lights can make it hard to see what's happening on stage properly. However they do actual shows with a theme and proper dancing and group co-ordination. I got dragged out onto stage at one point to serve as a focus, that was a good view.

Girls are very physically affectionate, but keep asking you to barfine them. I think they were pretty, but it was kind of hard to tell. Bring a light so you can see which notes you're counting out.

I agree that the talent available in Chiang Mai bars is not great. I find the gogo bars surprisingly disappointing for example, both in term of line-up and entertainment.

Well I know what you mean and I believe the trick is that most girls just don't go too often with customers and earn their money with ladydrinks. It's not really that they don't want to go but more that they are not really used to it because many chiang mai customers are young Farangs who travel with friends and do not indulge or only occasionally. So basically they're happy to pay a few drinks and have fun hanging out with their pals in the bars before going to Spicy but they're not really punters.

I believe all are barfineable but some might just want to earn a bit of cash with drinks and then head for Spicy and try to get a young drunk Farang who's going to pay 1K for LT and might pass out quickly.

Dude go to Pattaya, it's a completely different story, the girls know why they're there/what they're supposed to do and they're all after ST or LT. Mostly LT by the way. And there are many more to choose from too.

Try the 2 lady houses on Ninanmeinhenman Rd between Soi 13-15. Almost all the girls will do. Ask be4 hand. 4-500 bht
Also never heard of Banilah guest house. So many GHouses in CM not familiar with that one. When checking in just ask.
