All things are possible. I brought home a Paisa from Medellin this year. I took my time getting to know her for a year. Traveled back and forth in order to spend time with her family. Nice girl but I could sense differences upon her arrival hear. FYI, we had a 10 year age gap and she was no Pablado princessa , a nice El Centro working Paisa. Also I met her initially through Colombian Sweethearts. I returned her to Medellin after 2 months in the USA. It was very difficult, but the bottom line I was not ready for marriage after all.
RR, you might be ready whereas I was not. But here are some considerations for you ;
1. Do you speak Spanish well enough to truly get to know a Colombian woman ? Most do not speak English and the ones that do might be the types you should avoid.
2. Do you have the time and financial resources to devote to truly getting to know her before you bring her to Australia ?
3. Avoid the marriage agencies ! BE THE HUNTER AND NOT THE HUNTED. Try to find a Colombiana who is not actively searching for a forign husband. This will give you a better chance of finding someone who truly likes you.
4. you might want to even tell the ladies that you are seriously considering living in Colombia. This will help you to avoid those who are only looking for a way out.
5. Regarding bringing home a 20yo, I would not recommend this unless you are wanting to adopt. You really probably need to stay no more than 10-12 years of your own age.
I do believe that most Colombians are great people and that it is possible to find a good wife there. However I have decided to shoot for retirement in Colombia when I can. Then and only then will I might be ready to consider another marriage.

You keep her on (poor choice of words but not meant literally) a short leash, keep her satisfied and as GOD to interdict; for this you might have luck. This is how I have seen the loving Colombian husband treat their wives.
No domestic violence or bitter words. Freedom to a point but close to home. "Ganas" are more inmportant then fedility to many.
Do not let this sway you; if my marriage worked out (it would have if I had been given this advise) I would have been happier then the proverbial pig in shit.

Hi All,
I used to post regularly on ISG in other sections but now I am interested in Colombia. Although I like to dabble with the P4P, I also like to pursue non-pros. Thus, I'd like to do some of the legwork through the internet and was wondering what dating sites you have found to be helpful.
I have already signed up for Amigos.com and Cybercupido but have found them to have a limited selection of quality (hot) chicas. I'd appreciate if you could list your favorite Colombian Dating websites.

That's the hurdle you'll have to overcome, and its not an easy one. It can be done, but unless you have the patience of Job you'll likely in for a tough ride.
Without meaning to offend, it sounds to me that your listed priorities (appearance, age, fidelity) are not those that would suggest sucess.
For the info guys. I've mongered worldwide and have narrowed it down to two countries when it comes to finding someone to settle down with. Indonesia and Colombia. Was in Peru and Colombia about 6 years back for couple of weeks but didn't find it so great. Where as Indonesia. Wow. Chicks genuinuely fall inl ove with you there in no time.
But the Colombian girls rate tops on the looks list for me so if I can find a pearl in the ocean of women there. Perfect!

I would take your time, in searching for a wife. I wouldn't allow your eyes, and dick to do most of your thinking either, again your putting your life and fincial being into play. If you don't speak spanish LEARN! There are sweet girls out there to be sure, but some ruthless sharks too. If you can speak the local tongue you will be more in tune to pick out the bad apples.

I am new to the Colombia board, but a DR, BA and Mexico regular. Two friends and myself are planning our 1st trip to Colombia. We are considering flying into CTG, but renting a car and driving to MDE. We want to hit both cities. How safe is it to travel on 90 and 25 through the campo? I speak semi-fluent Spanish. A Colombiana friends of ours in the U. S. Insists that Antioquia and Bolivar are FARC and ELN free and "relatively" safe to travel. I just want to get the opinion of the regulars and ex-pats.
