The food chain issue has been brought up by many mongering friends, I personally dont believe it.
The funny thing is that many establishments are seperated through that imagined food chain. It used to be that romanian and moldavian were not let into Bacardi for example. This changed obviously, but still a weird concept.

Some of my friends swear by russian girls, not knowing that quite a few are non-russian EEs pretending to be from Mother Russia!!

Salutations to all on this most excellent board! I will be making my first visit to Istanbul in April, with others from April 12 but on my own from April 17th to 22nd.

Yesterday early afternoon I starred feeling a little peckish for action. I did not feel like going to the usual joints in Aksaray because it take time and puts a usual %30-%50 on the budget, and also I really did not feel like doing the tour from Irmak to Martini to Melody.

if you are a tourist and/or new in town Bacardi is your classiest pick. The problem with phone numbers is that noone will give them to you unless you are a contibuting senior member. The other problem is that you never know what you get. So if you wanna play it save and at leat see what you will have under or on top of you, stick to Bacardi.
If you want a quick shot and not an all nighter, or you dont want to spent too much money check out Irmak, Martini, or Melody. Those are all Bar/restaurants where you can easily pick up a girl. Beware of the tipping traps.
For directions read the Istanbul post, there is a very nice map!

Phone numbers: Sorry I don't have any now as these numbers are frequently changed. None of the numbers I got were good. Anyway the good news is that you will still have a great time. I stayed in old town and the hotel front desk guys were eager to help me out and set me up with any type of company I wanted. Mobile phone: I bought a $25 pre-paid Turkcell SIM card and used it in my GSM phone. It is the least expensive way to do it if you are going to make frequent calls and better yet, incoming calls are free.

I recently settled down in Istanbul, and following all the kind advice on this forum I headed to Bacardi on Saturday night. I got a reasonable view on the dance floor from my table, and interestingly, after some 10-15 min and 2-3 gin tonics the headwaiter started to introduce ladies to me. He brought them one by one to sit at my table, I didn't even need to move myself (except for the steady movement of my right arm, sipping drinks on a continuous basis). Most of the girls didn't speak any English at all, some of them spoke a little German. Some of them ordered a drink, others didn't bother to do even that, but rather disappeared after five minutes of "discussion". In most cases this was due to my apparent lack of interest, for the rest (I was told later) they didn't want to be with me, because I was getting drunk! (What a strange world this is, in most other countries the girls don't mind, as long as you are not too drunk to find your wallet!)

Nevertheless, I ended up to my apartment with three girls (yes, 3). I don't remember in detail what *really* happened (we also shared a bottle of vodka during the night), but I have some vague memories of banging at least a few of the girls in my bedroom. But it's a pretty ordinary night club that probably was renovated in the 80's... not stylish in any sense, IMHO.. The service is excellent, but only if you keep on buying things on a continuous basis and give enough tips to everybody (this is my personal interpretation). The headwaiter is a nice guy, probably closer to two meters tall, but very friendly and ready to work hard for his money.
