A couple of years ago I was walking around the not-so-busy sections of Ikebukuro, away from the busy lights, and was approached by a Chinese girl offering a "massage". She could barely speak Japanese at all when I tried to ask her for some more details. The situation seemed clearly awkward as she was just standing alone in front of a regular-looking apartment building (and not in front of any club or anything). She was dressed in regular attire, and all she did was point upward to the apartment building and said "massage," "massage". She was average looking, probably in her twenties. I'm not very familiar with Ikebukuro, and I was actually lost walking around the place. All I remember is that it happened near a Lawson's only a block or so away from some Soapland type establishments in the back areas of Ikebukuro. It was at night, maybe 9pm, and I really didn't want to get jacked by some seedy yakuza, so I just walked away. Is this common in Ikebukuro? Was this a yakuza scam, or something legit? Any info is appreciated!

Vanderley,The Chinese girls offering "massage" in Ikebukuro are fairly common even in the side streets near the Lawson (I assume you are talking about the area on the north exit, after passing through "Romasu-doori" etc.) I don't think it was yakuza scam, but mostly not worth the money... The ones outside often are quite cute, but they mostly don't do the service themselves and many additional fees (towls, "extras" etc.) are added to the mentioned price.I can reassure your info about the European/Russian club near Ikebukuro North exit. A Japanese friend took me there about three month ago. We were drinking before already and I don't remember much of the rest of the evening. I hit the RLD in Ueno in spite of the extremely uncomfortable weather. I'm headed back to the US on business next week and want to get in one last mongering session prior to departure. Homer,There are delivery places which will service foreigners in Uguisudani, for 20-30K. You go to a hotel and call the place tell them which girl you would like and they will send her over. Firstly, in regards to video boxes, the one roughly behind ALTA is called "Chick". A lot of nude model types work there. I went to L/S in Shibuya this afternoon. Actually, it's not the first time I've been there, but it's the first time I've paid for service there.
