Google maps will give you great directions it even tell you exactly which platform number to look for. Also taxis are everywhere.

JW Marriott in BKK (just booked in January), Renaissance in HK, and I do the Tokyo Marriott. Which I don't recommend if you're in to tourist things, it's more a business hotel. I'm sure others here can give better Tokyo hotel suggestions and help simplify the subway system (I only had to learn about 2 lines for the two times I"ve been there. Yamanote and Keikyu). Pick your hotel first, then worry about learning the subway lines.

As at David032 said, translators aren't that big a deal with most of the places that service foreigners. Most of the girls will have some basic English skills and some are incredibly proficient.
