I have bargained on prices of all sorts of things, and if I say so myself I am quite good at it, whether its clothes in HK, tuk tuk in India, or street girls in AC. Its good to find the lowest price you can get the deal for, and you know you've got to that point when you can walk away and it doen't go lower. But then consider who needs it most. If you're buying a leather jacket in HK the seller will still be making a buck, so thats ok. If its a street girl in AC, she is pretty desparate if she'll go LT at 500. So do the deal. In the last month, I took the Southern Cross bus to Manila, the public bus back to Angeles and Fly the Bus from Angeles to Manila airport.

I was very impressed with the Southern Cross bus. A good bus and comfortable. The public bus was also comfortable and fast, just a hassle getting on as so many people at the terminal and no clear information.

Fly the Bus was terrible.

It was a very old bus:

- lousy aircon: hot inside, even though it was a cool day.

- slow: really slow on the highway and were passed by everyone, even jeepneys.

- uncomfortable: lousy seats that didn't even come up to your shoulders. The public buses were much more comfortable.

- late: we left 20 minutes late.

Lousy airport transfer:

I organised the airport transfer for 5pm. Was ready and waiting just outside the entrance at 5pm. Nothing happening.

I asked the guy there when it will leave. He said they were waiting for the Fly the Bus to come from Angeles and didn't know when they would transfer us. At 5. 15pm I politely gave them more pressure and a bit after 5. 20pm they drove me and another guy to the airport in a van. They did this when they heard the other guy and I discussing getting a refund and taking a taxi to the airport.

A small, but annoying point, is that all their clocks were set for 6 minutes early and the guy claimed my watch was fast. I checked later and my watch was spot on.

Also, while I was waiting, two separate groups of people complained as they were not called for their bus.

The airport transfer was 300p, which is the same or more than a taxi.

I might have been a little harsh in a past post and that's not how I really feel about Mr E. lately I've grown to like him because he takes himself less seriously even joking about his tightness w / a buck. I also understand the guys that live there (or have a lot of freedom to travel) play by a different set of rules, so they watch their dough a little more closely.

On my last trip to AC and the PI I saved a considerable amount of money because I was more experienced about the PI ladies. In my past trips I would tip 1000p many times and the lady would take it like it was 100p w / little or no appreciation.
