East China - Shanghai

Thanks for the report Midwestern. I (as well as many I suspect) am still hesitant about making a return to MPs. For me to go back, it would have to be nice and discrete with no scrutiny at the entrance for being a foreigner, and without the obligation to show the green QR code. I have it but I don't to go through all this hassle when visiting an MP. How has it been for you, Do you feel welcome when going in? Have you been refused service anywhere for being a foreigner? And which ones have you been visiting? Do they include the 'season after winter' chain? And how do prices compare with pre-Covid?

And how do prices compare with pre-Covid?[/QUOTE]Yes MPs could they be legit or provide extras are going to ask you in most cases for either a alipay / city QRCode to be green or for you to scan the QRCode from your mobile operator to show you've been in the city for 14 days or more. And then they're going to check for your temperature.

That being said, these MPs are not getting your private info, you are the one scanning or just updating the info you display on your phone. They aren't getting anything from you. But alipay and your phone company knows you've been in this area. Yeah well again nothing new, your geoloc infos are being tracked all the time anyway.

The only real issue you can be worried about is that if contamination happens either to you or to the MP the link between you and the place will be made more public than you may want it to be. That being said, that's why I wouldn't go to anything else than a MP because at least you can somewhat pretend you were having a legit massage. In other venues it gets harder to even pretend that.

As for being welcomed or not. I've been to 5 different MPs from 3 different chains the past couple months and while a couple asked questions of how long I've been in China for recently, the girls in the room are much more relaxed than the front desk. I usually cover the topic at the begining of the session myself to relax them too.

Pretty much all the MP SPA chains which have been reported here in the past year with locations in Jing'an, Xintiandi, or Changning districts are back to business.

Some girls only get 1 or 2 customer a day so seeing you is actually great news for them. They usually offer more upselling than usual and are ready to provide good service to get repeat business calling their number at front desk. Of course, for chains with member cards they'll be even more passionate as usual to get you to sign for one as they get bonus from that. Some even accept to lower their tip if you sign a card through them.

Tried another girl from AISH.

Got her wechat in my phone, asked for more information, she sent me the are where she lives, prices and what-not.

700 for 1 P, 1 hour or so, definitely worth it if you are willing to risk going into unmarked buildings. The girl added me to a chatgroup where many escorts post if they are available, it seems to be run by them. The two girls were pretty close to their pictures from their wechat.

So recently I tried a few options from aish. My Chinese is good, so most of the girls assumed I was Chinese. However, just to check I told them I was a white foreigner and most turned me down. I got one nice looking one that didn't care, problem is when I went to her compound, the baoan checks my health code, becomes really suspicious because I'm a Laowai and just follow me around everywhere. For obvious reasons the girl couldn't come down or tell me exactly where she was yet. She apologized profusely, but it was not possible.

With apartment gals or incall gals or whatever, I was always a little nervous about going to their apartment complexes, and now, given the situation, I feel it's even more nerve wrecking. Almost all of them live in rundown complexes, so we just look weird walking around their complexes, especially because we look different and because we are wandering around looking lost, so everyone knows we don't really belong there. I try to dress way down whenever I went there. Recently, I got yelled at by the security of a complex, and they even threatened to call the police. But luckily one of them realized that they were overreacting and I was able to just walk away. So, for now, I am going to avoid going into their apartment complexes. I actually have an ATF apartment gal, and she said that she had to meet me at the front gate to escort me into the complex, but I decided it wasn't worth the attention.

As for MPs, most of them seem open. Extras are now more plentiful than ever before at any MP that is NOT a well known legit chain. I think the MP bosses are letting the gals do almost whatever they want, to allow both the shop and the gals to recover financially. I've been to a half dozen places in the past few weeks. One gal even offered BBFS but I chickened out. There's no point in naming MP places because, like I said, every MP (except for famous legit chains like Kang Dao) has extras on offer. If they are a legit place, they will say so, and then just walk out. Or just go the ones that you used to go to. I am pretty sure they will be open, and very eager to accept you.

With the big meetings approaching it seems rainy season is appearing in Shanghai with a few shops closed and raids happening this week.

I mean when LE raids a parlor / shop there are usually multiple girls and clients, but in case of an apartment or QQ girl there is usually only one girl, so lot of effort for a small catch (in some cases you can arrange double flight though). A shop raid is part of the red envelope circuit (I guess), but how would that work in case of a QQ girl. Or is the main purpose here to scare off other girls operating out of their homes and of course hungry punters.

Some appartments which are usually called studios in the adds from chinese sites & wechat accounts with a bunch of "saunalike girls". Other old communities where the local old people have been reporting strangers during the day due to their fear of covid.

Its unclear how it goes from there. I guess the usual thing where they ask for a confession and checking both people phone and wechat to see the kind of messages which were exchanged.

Thats how some people got busted with Steven's SNG ring, they were 2 consenting adults and police just confronted the people involved with CCTV images asking them to confess based on these images and wechat messages. They were not necerly caught during the act.

Same thing in Hongqiao a few years back in front of a MP or the MP at Xikang / Changping in Jing'an where a customer going out from the shop was asked by the police what he had done there and that if he confessed they wouldn't bother him (which usually is a lie. Confessing rarely exonerates you in China).

MPs can be hard to find, depending on where in the city you are. In Minhang for instance where it's gone underground for a while you wouldn't easily find any without help.

Just for an example, here's a spot in Xuhui more or less like the old Changshou place. Closest metro is Line 12 Hongcao, north about two blocks on Tianlin Road. Inside the plaza it should be easy to identify a fairly large Starbucks, a little to the left of that there are stairs up leading to a net cafe. Pass through their lobby towards a shared bathroom for the floor and keep going down a hallway into the interior of the building. There's an elevator and stairs on the right-hand side, and the first door past the stairs is the spot. Totally unmarked, it just looks like an office or residence's door. They monitor the camera that looks like it's pointed at the elevator, but prefer messaging inside once you add their contact.

So how similar to Changshou? Had at max 20 people as well though haven't asked recently, rooms might be somewhat fewer and smaller but much cleaner overall (no more wet towels or smells of clogged drains). Busy overall so the waiting room is still a possibility, though haven't seen foreigners yet. Routine is basically the same, hell some of the people were at Changshou before. Price is different though, hiked after crackdown and again after outbreak so it's 358 now.

MPs have been depopulating a bit though, so even areas / streets if not specific addresses would help to locate spots.
