However flagging down taxis then can sometimes be a pain, and I was always forced to take silver bird if I am to get a taxi from hotels like Hotel Mulia and Mandarin Oriental. Fares are prohibitively expensive. I remembered one time I took a silver bird from Mandarin Oriental to Gajah Mada, and given the traffic jam and road closure, I had to literally step off the silver bird after the fare was about to hit 300 K. And the funny part was that Mandarin Oriental was just right across the street. In essence, I have just paid 300 K to get myself across the street from the hotel itself. From then on, never again with silver bird for me.

Grab can in fact be more expensive at times and especially times when they have spike pricing. I had to pay this spiked price due to heavy demand or lack of cars last Monday morning from Sudirman to Pluit area. It started off at 125 K and I thought it was too pricey then and decided to wait to see if the demand would come down. 15 minutes later, the price has jumped to 150 K. I was forced to take it since I had a meeting with someone in that area then. Without spike pricing, the cost is typically only 60 K at most, so you get the idea.

Nonetheless, I do like the ease of use of Grab and the certainty in both price and availability.

As usual in Asia, the places for locals have better looking women and much better prices. Classic is good, because it's still mainly for locals. The places for foreigners are Blok M and BATS, which are as you say, places to be avoided.

There is plenty of room in that room for the girls to dance as well. Why anyone would prefer a shitty tiny room where you can hardly turn around just to save 80 k is beyond me. I would think that super private room would always be in use, but it was almost always available. Given the cheap ass clientele who go to that area, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I would buy a bottle of black label, get them all drunk and uninhibited, then head up for a wild time in that room. Some of my best times in Jakarta have been in that super private room.

The next part was a sad nightmare for me. I asked for the super private room and they told me that they no longer have that room. They said they destroyed it during the renovation and that now every room is exactly the same after the renovation. What the hell? All these years, that was the only reason to visit that place! In the past, if that room was not available, I would leave rather than use a different room. Given this disappointing news, I was tempted to walk out, but I figured I would give it a shot so I could check out the "newly renovated" rooms. Hell, the rooms at Hotel Classic are pretty damn nice, so maybe they renovated to that standard. I never understood why anyone would want a crap room at kota indah when they can get the same quality of girls (or nicer) at Hotel Classic which has way nicer rooms for the same price. So I was hopeful they had finally decided to compete with the nice venues like Hotel Classic and provide some nice rooms. Hell, they proved already they could do that when they built the super private room (which was better than the rooms at Classic). We went upstairs and they showed me into the new room. Much to my dismay, it was a tiny room with no mirrors on the walls. Small bed with just enough space between the bed and the shower to stand to take your clothes off. And although it is "newly renovated", it was obviously done on the cheap so the room was not nice, just plain. They did put a picture of a side view of a naked white woman on the wall above the bed though for decoration. The only thing I noticed to be renovated over the old cheapest rooms they had (that hadn't been renovated in over 20 years) is that the tiny shower was re-tiled, they painted the room with new low quality paint, and the bed had a new mattress (still a cheap one, but new). Sad thing was the shower was already dirty though since they obviously don't clean the rooms well. The room had no TV, no stereo, and you could not hear the music from downstairs. I don't like the room to be that quiet, so I played music on my phone. A far cry from the great stereo they had in the super private room, but at least it was something. It was also one of those ridiculous rooms where you have to hang your clothes above the little window on the door so that nobody can look in.

So getting back to the girl in the room, the girl and I entered the room and took off our clothes. We showered together and the girl had a perfectly toned body and was very pleasant. She was about as smart as a box of rocks and couldn't hold much of a conversation (I speak Indonesian), but that's not really what that place is about anyway. Unfortunately, the rooms at bunker may be cheap and big, but they don't have the TV and stereo.
