Hotel Layva $22 singles including parking free
Friday late night I was so tired, so I went to hotel Leyva to crash.
The room in the old wing is 400 pesos or $22 with TV and free parking. The rooms in the new wing on Constitucion is larger, 485 pesos or $26. I prefer rooms on the ground floor so I can get in and out quickly.
The room is nice, clean, quiet but smelling somewhat musty. The rooms are about the same quality as Cascada's unremodeled rooms but hot water is available. The sheets and towels are nice, clean, fresh. A few HK chicas live in hotel Leyva. Their high heels click clack in the corridor through the night.
Leyva is in a nice, clean, well-lighted ares, on Constitucion next to Chicago Club, only half a block North of the alley from the action. Sure beats Cascada's $65 single room deal. Highly recommended.
Easy to tell if the towels are clean.
The Cascadas towels are white and it is easy to see if they have stains or not been washed. The bedding and pillow cases at Cascadas are colored and it is difficult to tell if they have been washed.
Some people use a portable UV light in hotel rooms to detect if the bedding has been washed. I believe semen stains glow under UV light. Anyone want to take a UV light with them and check the bedding and report back?

REX Muffler and Radiator Repairs Blvd Agua Caliente, Zona Este
[blue][Deleted by Admin][/blue] US repair guys did something wrong with my car, the exhaust was leaking, making noise. A local repair shop quoted $900 to fix the problem. Could not find other shops that would diagnose and fix the problem. Was in La Zona for fun, decided to stay overnight and have Tijuana shops look at it in the morning.
Calles 3, O Campo and Negrete have lots of repairs shops, but the roads are being torn up. Most shops were not accessible. Finally found REX on Aquacaliente, corner Quintana Roo, about 3 block South of Costco, a large and professional shop specializing in muffler and radiator. Mechanic Eduardo speaks English like Gringos. This shop also does oil change and light maintenance, supposedly the best in Tijuana. They said exhaust manifold was cracked, needed removed and welded, 3 hours 1,500 pesos (about $80).
They had a dozen US cars waiting for mufflers and catalytic converters, so I left the car and went to lunch. Came back Eduardo took me under the car to look at the repairs. He did not have to remove the exhaust manifold, just welded the cracks in place, costing only 1,200 pesos ($65). He threw in an Aluminum alloy exhaust manifold gasket that would have costed me $70 at the dealer. So the repair was free, saving lots of time, money and hassles fucking around with stupid, greedy repair shops in the US. One mother fucking Mexican shop had the balls to quote $200 just to remove 2 bolts and assemble that AL gasket in place, if I bring the part. It's an easy job but I don't have the curved tools and don't want to get under the cars on supports. I am pissing mad at these [blue][Deleted by Admin][/blue] in the US.
If you have issues with your car, drive it down to Tijuana and leave it with the known good mechanics, and spend the time and money savings on pretty chicas. I collected contacts of a few supposed good, honest mechanics in Tijuana. So PM me if needed.
Crossing back via Ped East.
There is a CBP web site showing historical wait times on different days at different time.
For pedestrians, the longest wait time to cross back to the US is likely Sunday then Saturday afternoon 4 to 8 PM, when visitors try to get home for dinner. I drove past Ped East Saturday at about 4 PM and did not see a line of waiting pedestrians. They probably prefer Ped West to cross back into the parking lots of the shopping mall. If you cross back on Ped East late at night on weekends, my wingmen only had to walk and wait 10 to 15 minutes.
BTW there were a few visitors, families with children, on the Freedom path Saturday afternoon near the Wax Museum, the Artists' Village and the foot bridge over Tijuana river to Ped West. A few taco shops and trinket carts were open on the path. When Ped West opens into Mexico, it should bring more visitors over due to the short walk and convenience of nearby free parking at the mall.
[QUOTE=JuliusSeizure;2008705]Heading down for the first time at beginning of April I believe and it seems like the easiest way to get to Tijuana from Ca is through San Diego. The flights round trip from northern ca are over $600 to Tijuana but just half that to San Diego.
Anyways, is it true the worst day to come back across the border to the USA Is Sunday? I'm not looking forward to the 4+ hour lines to get back but it's way cheaper than flying into Tijuana I guess.[/QUOTE]
