Medellin Reports

I have visited many times DR and I have visited BB, FOD, TAV, New Garden and others, and I love this kind of resorts. Now I think that in my next trip I could change and go to Colombia, perhaps Cartagena and / or Medellin.

I have read many threads of this forum and I have found many times La Mansion in Medellin, but I do not know how exactly it works:

Is it similar to BB, FOD or New Garden Hotel in Sosua?

Can anyone explain me clearly what can I expect there or how must I act?

Also, any others options in Medellin?

And, perhaps I am abusing, but, what about Cartagena?

On Friday I was all over the city. I started in The Centro Casas at noon and ended up at Fasay Dos around 3 am. I was only at Liquid Lounge from an hour before the game until the game was over so can't really give a good assessment. The game was on the big screen and as Jake said,"this is a guy's day to hang out and watch football". In addition I had 5k USD on Seattle and I have trouble relaxing with a decent sized bet on a game. Fortunately I got an easy result with little stress. There were at least 20 girls at Liquid Lounge, over the course of the game, and I would say that the overall talent was good. I also saw a few sweet, new girls that I would have pulled if I had been in the right mood. By the end of the game, due to it being a blowout, only a few people were still there. I wish av8r luck with his transition into a nightclub. Someone in a month or so will have to give a write up after they transition into a nightclub.

A couple of general observations. I was very surprised at the low level of Spanish, on average, of the mongers that I met had. Some guys had none. What can these guys expect with no way to communicate? Also, most of the guys that I talked with were having, on average, negative experiences with Facebook. I could not give them advice as I never met a girl through an online website in my life. I would advice guys to stay at The Mansion until your Spanish level gets up to a basic level. At least you will have a base of hot girls to have sex with. I do almost all of my mongering in the daytime and do not go out at night often. If I were forced into the night scene, and was on a short trip in Medellin for the first time, I would fork up the extra money and go to Fasay Dos, La Isla, or Liquid Lounge and pull girls out for a few hours to TLN. I also want to add that I spoke with a ton of people recently from Casa Managers to Security Guards to Taxi Drivers and all report that Medellin is very calm right now as far as danger is concerned.

Well back to my simple life for a while. I will make a few trips a week into Centro going forward. Other than that I will be spending time with my girlfriend and having girls to the apartment that I already know.

I made a bunch of trips for about 2 weeks at a time to CR and could never make much progress. Once I got more time I made huge leaps.

Most guys with a limited Spanish level struggle in Medellin. This is why it is important IMO to stay at The Mansion. In your case you found enough talent that you didn't even need to leave.

As far as I know there is no place like the ones you mentioned in Cartagena.

MMMM i would not recommend anyone to push their luck in this regard. I once asked some cops for help eventhough i was completely skunked out on weed. They did not search me or anything. Fortunately i was clean. Most of my colombian friends walk around with a minimum of 3 bags of weed, ( much bigger than your rip off nickel bags in the US). That is way more than the personal use limit. But i think they are viewed as users were as you would be looked on as an associate of pablo escobar. In the minimum you would be reemed for a lot of money. Don't chance it.

The Medellin Report section should be full of good information one can use but you can see it's not. This fact makes most posters here look rather bad imo. If you have some general info then freaking post it in the correct section of the Colombian Forum. F* how hard is that? This place is a joke.

So Jeff, I'm not unable to learn I am slow at it and yes immersion is the fast way. This last trip I really wanted to be more fluid but I wasn't most times. I still enjoyed many conversations w / the mansion girls and it makes things much better. I can easily get along w / out The Mansion on the spanish I have now but why stay some where else.

I am not interested in the civie scene and the hottest hookers are at the mansion hands down. Once in a while I think it would be fun to stay in La Mayorista and play on the edge of the scene but I haven't yet. I have enjoyed some spectacular action in La Mayorista but haven't stayed at the hotels there yet. La Mayorista is the only place I've seen that interest me as much as The Mansion but The Mansion has much more in comfort and a better location.

La Mayorista is awesome on the weekends and I love the energy there w / the salsa blasting from the bars. It's not for everyone tho.

My TR took a big effort from me. I could have been doing something more productive. I hope this section gets BACK on track.

My best advice for learning Spanish is to get a regular or a small group of regulars on a long trip, as opposed to sampling liberally and not repeating.

If you are just in and out or spending one night, you will not really force yourself to get things right when speaking or listening.

If you are around the same person or people with regularity, several things happen. One, you have to pay attention, ask questions, clarify, etc, because what is being said kinda sorta means something. Two, you listen to them more and understand more from context, also they will introduce you to stuff in Spanish (music, TV shows, etc) where you can do the same. Lastly, you get accustomed to their accent, mannerisms, expressions, etc and it expedites the learning process considerably.
