I had a chance to talk to one of my Dominican friend that live in Puerto plata. He told me the best way 2 do it is to open a low budget restaurant don't spend no more then $4000, find a dominican girl and put the restaurant under her name so I can be hustle free. He said he can find me a place to rent on pedro clisante for only $500 a month and 3 people to work for me for rd2000 pesos each, every other week. He said I can easily make rd60000 pesos a week on slow season. What do we guys think?
Cool. I'm interested to see how this works out. As far as any problems with the police, you can just deal with it like a local: http://youtu.be/HrKKPAmduRA

Not 1 but almost all of us think it's a bad idea I guess I have 2 give up. The only reason I wanted to do something and sosua, because I have a surgery 2 do I'm taking 4 month off at work and I want to spend 3 month and dr. Its about to be winter soon theres almost nothing to do for fun up north on winter. Thats why I wanted to give it a try while I'm there to see how it will go and also have something to entertains my self.

Hey guys I'm loving Sosua so far!
What's the after overnight rate for girls in the Winner Bar / Disco area?
Also does anyone know a good barber near sea breeze?
If it was that easy and that good of an idea then the chances are that someone would have done it a long time ago. It never fails when new mongers hit these spots they get the fever and try to come up with bright and clever ideas of how they can stay in the place, or make money, etc. It happened all the time in Rio and from the looks of it it happens in DR. Last month I met a newbie in Thailand who started getting bright ideas of making money this that or the other way. I told him dude forget all that shit. Just enjoy your vacation and when you are ready to come back for another one the place will still be here.
I totally agree with this. There's the fantasy of living down in a place where there is an endless supply of chicas and the beach. And then there's the reality of making a healthy profit running a legit business. Whether starting a business at home or elsewhere, on site market research is warranted. At least at home, there's still a home to go to if a business idea fails but abroad, that can be another story.

For a local barber right there or where they get their hair cut, there are tons of salons getting their nails done, hair cut and straightened but I don't know if they do dudes. I'm sure if you asked them they would say yes!

I give him RD200 which includes a RD100 tip, do not let him overcharge you, tell him FBI sent you.

Most people do not even stop for them if they try and pull you over. I've seen cars almost run them over.

Quick question: does Passions take credit cards?
Quick question: does Passions take credit cards?
I do not know for sure but I doubt it. It is best not to use a cc in the Dominican Republic, unless you use it to get cash advances at the banks. Most hotels and restaurants in the tourist areas charge a fee to pay with cc to cover their extra charges. Cash is king in Sosua.

2. You don't want anyone's dirty paws on your credit card!
3. In D. R. Cash is king.
Never use credit card!
I know I don't post to much, but I'm sure every senior member will agree with this.

I think I got a bad exchange rate on some US currency the other day (lost out on $1000 pesos according to the internet)
In the future wouldn't it be better rate wise to get to money changed while in the US? What do you guys normally do when coming to DR?
