Dubai getting ridiculously expensive
Dubai getting ridiculously expensive or mongers getting pleaser by spending money rather than sex?
I am surprised to see people paying AED 500 (GBP 100) for half hour. This is almost twice as expensive as average Greater London Sauna. On top of that 35plus.
I am missing the comments from WR and Bravo.
AMPs closed down by yours truly and price inflation
I've noticed since the past 1 month there have been mass closures of AMPs in various areas of Dubai, pretty much more than half the AMPs I know in new Dubai have been shutdown like tecom marina DG and some on barsha. A couple also in Deira have been shutdown, its not looking good at all for the Dubai AMP scene. Many apartment AMPs also closed.
Also I noticed a couple of spas that I called up are raising their massage prices by an extra aed 50, I was also surprised that many new masseuses are starting to demand 200aed tip minimum, and some are not happy with 100 anymore, even if they accept its frowned upon. I refuse to pay more than 100AED for just an HJ, at least for now. Looks like inflation is really hitting Dubai hard with the silly rents going up like there is no tomorrow for no reason. You can't convince me all those towers are suddenly full!
Booze, Bahrain and Ramadan
There are many posts asking about situation in Ramadan. Dubai, Abudhabi, Baharain are one of the few liberal cities in Gulf where alcohol is served in Holy month.
Hi Joe,
Sorry to say, Bahrain, in its infinite wisdom, stopped servicing booze during Ramadan about six or seven years ago. All the bars close, and many restaurants are also closed. The owners send the staff on holiday for the holy month and redecorate or refurbish. If you stay in a 'good' hotel, you can get alcohol through room service, but that is absolutely all. As a result, many of the girls go home for a month. Bahrain dies a rapid death as very few visitors from across the causeway bother to come to the 'bar and bordello' at the end of the pier. To say it hits the F&B business hard is an understatement. Hotels are virtually empty. So much for 'business friendly' Bahrain.
Cheers.
