Price Increases
A couple of weeks ago it was reported that Maribaya Spa (on the 6th floor of Hotel Melawai) in Blok M had increased its house fee from 350,000 rupiah to 400,000 rupiah for a one-hour session with one of the girls.
I've discovered that at least two other places used the end of Ramadan to increase their house fee.
Anggrek Panti Pijat, located on an alley off of Jalan Hayam Wuruk just south of Jl. Mangga Besar, one alley over from the Stadium, raised its house fee from 180,000 rupiah to 200,000 rupiah. Not a big deal IMHO; most of the girls here are young (late teens/early 20s), and many are decent looking. Since the girl does get to keep part of the house fee, add in a 50,000 rupiah tip and the place remains affordable at 250,000 rupiah total.
The surprise is that Bali Hai, located next to the bus station in Blok M, also raised its house fee for a session with one of their female employees in one of the rooms upstairs. The rate has increased from 150,000 rupiah to 200,000 rupiah, and the female employees will demand at least a 100,000 rupiah tip, costing 300,000 rupiah or more, terrible value-for-money.
For those readers who are new to the board, this is the infamous place where a male customer can receive a blow job while sitting on one of the bar stools. Hard to believe that this place could justify such a price increase, since 90 per cent of the ladies working here are over 35, many over 40! This place is also a low-end, run-down dump; while the rooms are no worse than Maribaya Spa, at least Maribaya offers several cute girls in their 20s..
I have to assume that the number of guys willing to pay for a session upstairs will drop significantly, although I'm sure that the semi-public blow jobs (apparently 150,000 rupiah total or less depending on one's bargaining skills) will continue.

Mangga Dua
So they put me in the Sheraton Media in Mangga Dua. Is there any reason to be miserable being there?
According to my RTFF, the only thing in the neighborhood is Jl Industri 9-11. Can anyone suggest anything else in the area?
Also how far would Blok M, Shangri-La and the Mulia be from there?
Thanks.

I knew the BJ's took place. At least I've heard of it, but never ever knew of the upstairs offer. When you say one of their employees, your surely not talking about the carbon-dated ladies that accoust you as soon as you walk in are you? Its been a while since I've been there, but when I used to go there frequently, well, the quality wasn't exactly top shelf.
Interested to find out.

How far Sheraton Media
Blake, you are very far away from Blok M, Shangri-la and Mulia. By taxi would take you at least more than half hours to reach Shangri-la, 45 minutes to reach Mulia and about 1 hour to reach Blok M if the night traffic is good.
But you are near to Mangga Besar area (10-15 minutes by taxi) and Bro MS have already written something beautiful for everyone to use.

relax, man
What, a brothel in Jakarta? I'm shocked!
Relax, MS, it's a hoax.
There is no brothel in Jakarta.
JKT is clean, I'm pretty sure. :D

Does anyone else find this to be completely misleading? How is Jl Industri 9-11 one of the top locations in Jakarta all of a sudden? LOL!
There are far better places than that close to the Sheraton.

Not the best location to be in, but not the worst either.
As Wismaasia has already pointed out, the Lokasari Plaza area on Jalan Mangga Besar that I posted about last week is due west of your hotel, no more than 10 minutes away. You are also 10 minutes away from Hotel Travel, which is on Jalan Mangga Besar VIII, a side road off of the main Jalan Mangga Besar.
Add another 5 minutes or less to continue on westwards to the intersection of Jalan Mangga Besar and Jalan Hayam Wuruk, where you'll find the infamous Stadium, Kartika, etc., with the Hotel Malioboro a few minutes further south.
You are also less than 10 minutes away from Atrium Mall (a straight shot south of the Sheraton Media), a great place for day-time mall hunting.
To the northeast (20 minutes by taxi) is the Kelapa Gading area, where you'll find Sumo Shiatsu, MTR2 and several other places.
To the northwest (less than 10 minutes by taxi) are the "PangJay" MPs off of Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta (Sari Ayu, MTR, Royal, Kristal, etc.), they are down two alleys to the right just after you pass under the railway overpass.
Continue another 5 minutes past the PangJay MPs and you'll reach the high-end Beverley Hills Spa and the low, low end Virgin Spa, both next to the old Jakarta City Hall and the Cafe Batavia (once rated by Newsweek as one of the best bars in the world). Another 5 to 10 minutes and you'll reach the high-end Alexis Hotel & Spa (one of Oyenk's favorite places).
Not counting the Kelapa Gading places and the Jl. Industri Raya places, there are at least 30 MPs within 10 to 15 minutes of your hotel in the areas described above. Oh, for Jl. Industri Raya, these places are relatively low-end (& cheaper); the best places seem to be #19, #39-40 and #47. Avoid #29, which appears to have many "lady boys" in the mix.
Unfortunately the well-known hotel night-club pick-up spots of BATS (Shangri-La Hotel), CJ's (Mulia Hotel) and 30 bar (Le Meridien Hotel) and the Blok M bars on Jalan Fatahillah are all to the south, around 30 minutes away in night-time, more during the day.
A note on distance and time: All of the times quoted earlier are for off-peak times, which would include mid-evening. During rush hour and other times with heavy traffic, a relatively short distance can take 30 minutes or more, and travelling across town can easily take an hour or more.
I'd vote for Jkt as the host city of the next Olympic Games.
So that the whole world gotta know about this mongering paradise? :(
No way man!
Let the crowds of tourists think the no.1 is still Bangkok or Pattaya or whatever and keep them out of JKT.
Cheers!

You're too quick for me Ekspat. I'd already removed the post. :D. Obviously I agree completely with your point. It was just added as a little joke to complement my hats off to the MS who's posts are always incredible accurate. However.. olympic games in jkt, when you think about it, wouldn't that be a great opportunity for world peace. No more fighting everybody happy banging the nights away.. mm, thankfully there's always the jkt traffic that will stop any official thinking seriously about that proposition. Cheers.

HIV + Girl from My Bar
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if you're heading to My Bar be careful of a girl with lots of tattoos. My friend took her home and barebacked her. 3 months later he's found out he's HIV+. He's pretty sure it was her.
Is this perchance the same girl, who "allegedly" married one of the (former) correspondents and who "allegedly" found himself to be HIV +. After she had "allegedly" done a bunk? If it is this same girl (her photo does in fact appear on this site) and your friend is indeed truthfully HIV+, should she be unmasked? I don't know.

===================================
Bro Oyenk,
I am really from Singapore not local. But I have many local friends. I don't particularly promote Tropical but prefer to use the facilities there as it is my personal preference. I have been to and tried MTR2 in KG, MTR in Pangeran Jayakarta, TC, BM, Travel, Kartika, Berlian, and Rasa Sayang all in around MB. In fact I like MTR2 too but it is too far from town but near to where some of my friends stay. I do not try mall hunting as I am usually very busy so will go for the easiest way out.
I am current back in Singapore and may only be in Jakarta end of Dec. Will let you know so we can meet up. I goes in and out of Jakarta like once a month or once every 2 months and I speak bahasa because I am "baba/peranakan". If you're in Singapore or have anyone that you know of coming to Singapore in the next few week we can also arrange to meet up in Singapore too.
The only thing is I don't monger in Hometown less someone saw me. Singapore is too small and you tend to bum into someone you know easily.

The worry with barebacking is if your friend had to wait 3 months for test, thats fine if hes not been in action. If he has continued to bareback during that time, well, we all know where I'm heading with this. I know its personal choice and its a dreadful thing we're discussing, but, IMHO, it pays to be safe and pleased rather then at risk and ecstatic. I recently posted about a report I read on aids thru cunnilingus (my favourite pasttime and should be considered for olympic events. Cross country cunnilingus and track and field felatio), adn I am also a bit concerned and now have to go thru the testing stage, so my thoughts are with your friend.

D's Place update...
(2) D's Place. I stopped in on Monday. There was a little contest going on with a group of girls tabletop dancing topless AND bottomless. Woo hoo. I can't say that the dancing talent was that great - a bit long-toothed. And they didn't waste a second to put their clothes back on once the contest was over. General situation was still bleak on the second floor.
Enjoy Jakarta, AsianRain+
I'd visited Jakarta last August and was totally disappointed in D's Places. It was a Saturday night and the place as totally dead. Nothing but a few over weight fuglies hustling for drinks. It was not the place of middle 2006. Sexi young thangs dancing on the upstairs stage and loads of very pretty and shy FL's.
UPDATE: I arrived to D's Place Wednesday night (last night) around 9:45PM. Down stairs was packed. 50/50. 50% Expat and 50% FL's. Some pretty and some should hide in the dark.
I did see several Expats wearing black shirts with D's Place embroidery on them and I take it they were actual "staff".
The moral was great with a different contest for the FL's every 10-15 minutes. It kept the place packed with girls looking for a Lucky Draw or singled out for a sexi dance by a FL.
Was good to see the "staff" coordinating the activity. Keep the place "Humpin" till I left at 11:00. This was down stairs only. Did not stick around for upstairs action. Too much smoke.
I see D's Place getting back to it's Premiere Status soon. Staff are active (not only walking around shaking hands and BS'ing).
Keep up the hard work guys and see ya again tonight!

"let's try to keep info flowing"? Of course!
