Do you think good-looking girls are moving from Medellin to Tijuana, between two countries with the most powerful cartels in the world, without protection? I have been living in Latin America since 2012, and in Panama City (Panama) since 2019. I go and visit Colombia frequently for work, including Cartagena, where I have been two weeks ago.

I am not a newbie in the city and I manage to speak perfect Spanish, however I can still be spotted as a "gringo" (I am European).

My two options for accomodation are either in Bocagrande or in calm streets in the historical center. The city is not getting any better.

Street vendor is a constant harassment wherever you go; I have been to the beach of Playa Bomba with two girlfriends, and it is unbelievable how many vendors will approach you all the time. The average is one vendor every minute. The worst thing is that they will not leave after you say no, and they will stick around for a few minutes with a sad face and talking shit.

After you finally say "no" for the 20th time, they will leave.

Count until ten. Next vendor comes!

I have a group of Brazilian friends who recently visited the city and they were extremely disappointed and said that they will not come back ever.

The city is full of scams of every kind (taxi, cheap stuff sold overpriced, tours, SW, EVERYTHING is possibly a way to scam you).

The ladies around are not the best but you can spot some gorgeous ones. They will still try to scam you as well, so BEWARE.

People are aware and have adapted, they know not to go to the public beaches and only go to the private ones the vendors cannot easily access.

I've seen many have learned to observe and adapt but also see many like to keep doing the same things and expect a different result but within time they come to the same conclusion and adapt as well. Some just take longer than others.
