Today as I left house I dodged a first checkpoint just to be caught in the second big one on Sukumvith just south of central. They had restricted traffic to one lane and stupid me I tought it was for roadwork. I didn't know that the highway police station is there. It would have been enough to just drive to the side or into an alley.

Document checks was staffed by these clowns of foreigners turist police. And they wanted everyone to have an international driver license or face the fine. 400 Bt.

That has really built up my contempt for both the Thai cops and these wannabe cops on a gunless power trip.

The rest of the day was not much better and so the night, I digged quite a few bad attitudes at Lucifer. But, much better to know these there than in your room.

Traffic to Pattaya from airports not impacted at all. Better actually as less tourists...

I would prefer to use bell bus because they drop off at hotel (sunshine or sabai wing) but they don't have a bus for one hour. 389 does have a coach leaving airport at that time but they will drop me off on central Pattaya intersection, leaving me at mercy of taxi or baht bus drivers.

So is it OK and wasy to try haggling with baht bus taxi drivers or is it better to stay back at airport for an extra hour and get bellbus for hotel transfer?

Please suggest if you have personal experience.
