Firstly, let me say, I'm an infrequent monger but having been around China / Asia for the past 20+ years I've learned that sometimes we have great experiences, and sometimes not so great, but have to accept both as being part of the mongering scene, and not get too upset when things don't turn out as well as expected / hoped. I'm therefore posting my experience at the new MP mainly to help anyone thinking of going there, and what to expect.

Firstly the guy at reception managed to translate the three prices as: 598 = Massage with Lady. 798 = Cosplay massage. 998 = Sexy Dance massage. (All are 60 minutes).

I opted for the 998 Sexy Dance Massage & was led to a very smart room & brought little bowls of tomatoes etc (which I always find quite odd). After 5 minutes a girl (I would give her about a 7) came in wearing a slinky satin long dress which seemed to be a good sign. She gave me a locker key & led me to a shower room & left me to shower & put on a pair of pyjamas. Back to the room & she asked if I wanted her to change into a Japanese schoolgirl outfit (every room seemed to have one, which I assume it their Cosplay attire). What she was wearing was fairly sexy so I was good with that.

I lay with my head in her lap and she gave me a head / shoulder / face massage. And then she started asking me a load of questions. My Chinese is sketchy at best & her English was none existant, so after 5 to 10 minutes she sent me back to the locker / shower area to get my phone to use the translation app. !! (no idea where her phone was) To cut a really long story short, for the next 30 minutes we were standing, exchanging messages on my phone and I eventually worked out that to get a HJ I need to book a second hour at rmb 998. Making the total of nearly 2 k for a simple HJ fully clothes and no touching! When I pointed out how ridiculous the cost was, she then tried to up sell a VIP package (I think about 3 k), which would mean the 2 hours needed would "only" cost rmb1400.

By now its 50 minutes into my one hour and I've had enough! So I just walked out and went to the locker area and dressed. This really freaked the girl out who possibly thought there would be problems with me paying. Back to reception where I made my feelings know, but paid up (who needs the problems associated with refusing to pay? As I was leaving a guy came out who spoke good English who asked what the problem was. I went through it with him and explained that rmb 1 k for what turned out to be a ten minute head massage was not acceptable and I'd never be back. He seemed genuinely apologetic and offered a foot massage as compensation!! No thanks. I'd had enough and just want to get out of there.

So guys. That was my experience.

BTW, I had a similar experience recently at another MP. This one is on the corner of Yaohong Lu and Guyang Lu. This place is brand new. Was quoted 1280, but after about 15 minutes into the massage, she starts asking me a ton of questions. (BTW, she was old and fat.) I have no idea what she's asking. Then she leaves and a manager walks in and starts quoting me membership prices. They do not require a prescription. Just walk in, point (or talk Chinese, if you manage), pay and go out.

I have tried a few other Lei Yun Shang Pharmacies, in Puxi and Pudong, and never really had an issue with them; but that just might have been luck. Other Pharmacies though always have blocked me, asked for prescription and / or ID.

So if I were you, I would locate the nearest Lei Yun Shang Pharmacy and just try my luck. If they don't have it, too bad. If they ask ID, just tell you forgot it and walk out; just a bit embarassing. But otherwise, you have a good permanent convenient place to buy it.

But yeah, in general keeping empty packets of necessary pharmacy items is a good idea. I recently needed some medicine and it was difficult to explain what I needed. When they suggested some medicines, I had no idea if this was what I was looking for.
