The old aging international terminal is a hell trying to leave. How many times does a person need to be security checked? 5-6 times? The lines or the barging of people is horrendous. The Manila traffic is something I o not look forward to. I for one do not want to step in Manila or the airport ever. If I am going to AC, I'll look for a flight to Clark as it is much easier. I do not think that the general preference of the public is to go to Manila if they are going to AC having read so many negative reports on this and other forums about the NAIA airport.

I've talked to airline people about this and they admit they got complaints when they advertised Clark as 'Manila (Clark) '. Not only is it a good long drive away from Manila, but you then arrive on what is for most people totally the wrong side of the city (the north) , and getting to Makati or Ermita can take another hour or more. However much you may hate NAIA, and we all do, for most people going to Manila whether for business or pleasure, it's actually very well located.

now i admit ac has limited attraction for me except for some very naughty parties i have sometimes. then it is ideal as i can easily get girls and generally there are a few isg mongers there so that generally covers my needs for 2-3 days (next one likely in july)

One of easiest arrivals I have had in the PI. I arranged a Pacific Breeze pick up for 400P. I was number three thru immigration (carry on only) and from arrival to hotel (driver standing by with sign) 40 minutes.

Departure was smooth, as I did web check-in and they had express line. I was happy to see that, as three buses arrived from Manila with OFW's 10 minutes before I did. Easy thru and in departure lounge 15 minutes later.

I will avoid flying into Manila, unless I am staying in Manila. I paid a little more to fly into Clark, as my last flight into Manila, we circled Manila for 1 1/2 hours due to air congestion and then suffered thru a 4 1/2 hour ride to AC.

I arrived on EK earlier than planned, thought it would nice and quick yet stayed in the air 50 minutes while NAIA sort out congestion, so was messay as Etihad etc had landed just before.

This impacts all airlines and the budget carriers are hit badly, some stay on the ground, say in Cebu, until NAIA tell them they can depart. Lots of delays and this impacts later flights.

Robbaf. I wonder how long before Qatar decides to pull the plug (maybe longer as all the other major Middle East carriers have done so already?).

[b]ac perimeter road. go-go bars: [/b]the ac go-go bar scene seems to be alive, well and thriving, from what i as a newbie can tell. most all bars were open, had an abundance of girls and were greeting patrons with vigor. i did not witness any closures or police raids. for that matter, it was very difficult to spot the police and don't actually remember seeing any police.

must admit i did not do much bar hopping, but enjoyed the perimeter road. go-go bars, significantly more than the ones on fields ave. that may seem strange to some, but i found the relaxed atmosphere of the perimeter go-go bars, to have less pressure to buy a drink, less glitz and glam, with friendlier inviting tendencies.

although i image, that because we are now paying the bar fine afterward and not upfront, it would seem having the bar girls do business this way, should cut-down on the number potential runners. or at the very least, if she runs early, you'll pay her less than the initial agreed upon amount. in which case, this means she'll have some explaining to do with the mamasan, or she'll simply take less pay, when paying the mamasan / bar their expected cut.

[b]high society / sky trax discos: [/b]high society diso (hsd) is located on walking st, about 1-2 blocks away from mnl highway and fields ave. entrance. i believe sun thru thu, is free and fri / sat is p150-200. open from about 9pm till 5-6am. they play techno, trance mixed with hip-hop. a good club, with lots of fls available for late night pickups or if you simply wish to party and hangout with your gf for a few hours. drinks are reasonable (san miguel is p100). went in several times and once with my gf. each time i had plenty of fun and excitement. hsd caters to vips and has vip sections, if you roll like that and like to enjoy these type of high profile club extras and perks. as far as i know, each designated vip section requires you to spend a certain amount depending on the section. as for sky trax disco, it is located at the corner of fields ave / constain st. not sure, but i think operating hours / costs are the same as high society. plays mostly techno music and seems to cater to an asian crowd. popped my head in a couple of times for 5-min at a time, but the atmosphere didn't really suit my tastes. believed i may have seen several fls, but can not verify with certainty.

[b]sm mall fls: [/b] about 4:30pm during the afternoon / day, i decided to checkout sm mall, for something to do and wanted to see what their imax theater was playing, (300:rise of the empire, p400. other regular movies p130-140). suddenly while walking around, two young cute girls give me the "hey, hey, pssst.", while i was going down the escalator and they were going up. one was really cute and the other wasn't bad, but not as pretty. thought they looked a little young so i ignored them. minutes later i saw them looking at me from above and then oddly enough when i exited the mall 30-minutes later, they were right there behind me.

several times i stopped awhile with some very nice locals and bought a few beers (p35) , snacks and food, while we sang karaoke (p15) or shoot the shit. they (the locals) had a good laugh, as i tried karaoke for the first time, trying to sing,"open arms" by journey. i even had to laugh at myself, as i made an ass of myself, trying to hit the high notes. it was all in good fun and everyone had a good time. but what was even funnier, was one of the local men was trying to fix me up with one of his nice 'good girl' cousins. looking back on the deal, i should have asked for pictures (lol) , but i graciously declined his offer and bought him another beer.

on wednesdays only, there is a mini-market place, where locals sell clothing, household goods, nick-nacks and other trinkets. check-it out you may find something of interest, as you pass by. so don't be shy, buy a friend a beer (p35) , or a kid a bottle of mountain dew (p12) , stay awhile and chit chat about sports, politics, religion, wives, girlfriends or whatever comes to mind.

surprisingly so, angeles turned out to be a doozie of fun for this novice and despite the efforts and cries from many of the beautiful pinoy sirens, i managed to find what i was looking for in the several low-profile, low-keyed places. so my ac visit, basically consisted of three (3) fl / sw girls walking in the street in-and-around santos st, a couple of sw found just outside abc hotel, a couple from perimeter road bars and two (2) from high society disco. depending on the girl, st was p700-1500 and lt was 1500-2500. although i enjoyed strolling around and picking-up fl and sws, be careful with **** girls propositioning you, especially on santos st.

before my crazy trip to phils, i decide to research few hotels that looked interesting, most of which were compared from a budget traveler's perspective and some for a 'day-in-the-sun', so to speak. my other reasoning was to acquire a personal barometer range of hotels from high-to-mid-to-low, so that in the event of a subsequent trips, i could plan accordingly. much of the undertaking proved fruitful, but i wouldn't recommend 'hotel hopping', for the faint of heart. looking back on this trip, i probably did more 'hotel hopping' than bar hopping on fields ave. (see ac hotel section)
