You can find nice condos in Moema and walk to the various clinicas. Of course, you can venture out to other clinicas in other neighborhoods. (My advice is don't stay in Republica.).

If I'm a bit confused by the vernacular you are using, I suspect others will be. Sao Paulo is not known for termas. And I would say SP clinicas are fairly similar to prives if not exactly. Clinicas are great for afternoon fun (as well as evening).

Weekends (Friday and Saturday, as they are closed on Sundays) isn't as good as mid-week (Tuesday to Thursday) in terms of talent / lineup.

You just have to go to another bank ATM such as HSBC or Santander to withdrawal more money.

I heard there is going to be a truckers strike starting about the 23rd. Has anyone there heard about this and what it might do to us during a visit? I will be arriving the 19th and returning April 4.

The person who told me about it was there during a trucker strike a few years back and he said they rationed gas?

It could be that she planned something with another client so she couldn't come and a lot of the times they won't give a reason for that.

From what I heard, prives are below clinicas in quality but cheaper. In the local forum gpguia, there is a CLínica section and a prive section. From the descriptions of the prives, I would no interest in going. SP are known for its CLínica scene and I also recommend to first timers to SP to stick to them. There is a large grouping of clinicas in Moema and what's where I would be! There is a lot of traffic during the day and it would be a pain to get out of república to try any of the Clinicas in Moema.

Luckily that time the planes still could fly, and I could go home. So truckers strike means look forward to lack of public transportation, ohh and empty restaurants. That was cool, me and a girl all alone in the restaurant, with our own server, candlelight dinner. Expect restaurant to close early too. But should be fine in a city like sp.

My apologies, I get the terminology confused. The prives are great, loaded with talent (performers) but I had to take a metro everytime, to 5-6 stops on theblue line, and walk like 10 min in the hot suburbs looking for the prive lmao., as opposed to rio centro, they're all in 4-5 buildings within a square mile or so.

Where would you recommend if not republica? I'm on the map but have a hard time finding a location close to the metro surrounded by clinicas. Thanks.

It's a tough one man, sp has much better housing / infrastructure / food, but rio has the perks of a loaded prive centro and the beach / higher end copa, if one pleases.

Thanks.[/QUOTE]Staying near the Eucaliptos metro stop would put you near several Moema clinicas. It also has the advantage of being across the street from Shopping Ibirapuera. It's a decent shopping mall for walking around and eating. There's a supermarket right there too.

For a variety of reasons beyond mongering, I have stayed in Jardim Paulista. Quite a few guys here like staying in Moema. It has a different vibe than Republica so make sure you are cool with that.
