They never told me what law I broke. The nearest I could come up with after talking to the security guy was that I had a girl in my room after the guest-in-the-room curfew of 10 pm (or 11 pm). They caught her on the way out the front door and watched the hotel security camera video to find me. It doesn't make much sense to me since I had a girl from Tongren Lu in my room at 2 am one time before and she even registered at the front desk with an ID on the way up to the room.

Now, I'm real gun shy about having a girl in my room or going to a massage parlor or sauna. I know there's always a risk of LE showing up, but is there a reason to be paranoid? I want to try some of the places you guys have written about but I'm starting out a little chicken.

Many of the bars, and some new ones, are moving to Da Tong. It is located on Julu lu, 158, not far from RuiJin lu. It's underground, sort of (open air but below ground). Was built to be a mall, so it's huge, complete with very slippery floors as Chinese just love for reasons that non-Chinese will never understand (I believe it's so they can hose off the blood, vomit, etc easily).

There's a big food court and will be some shopping, wine stores, etc. there as well. Will change the dynamic a bit I suppose.

The bars should start opening there around Feb 2010, provided there is no shutdown of that place too - perhaps the new layout underground and the revamped image will help preserve it, unlike Maoming lu, Julu lu, and now Tongren lu.

Scams of this kind happen, but usually not in a 5star. They usually cost way more than 500 RMB if they happen. Bloody amateurs on the scammers' part.

If something like this should happen in a 5star, you should ask the security guy and the "police" to remain in the room, then reach for the phone and demand the immediate presence of the manager. The least that will happen after that is that the security guard is out of a job. If they are really vigilant, security guy and "police" will end up in jail. Amateur hour on the guest's part.

Happened two months ago and is posted now? Aha.

Girl was apprehended when LEAVING the premises? Oh brother

Needed to look at the tape instead of just asking the girl for the room number? Yeah sure.

6 months in jail for not registering? Gimme a break.

No, it doesn't seem right. I must've been scammed and didn't handle it as well as you would have, but I've never had Chinese cops in my hotel room at 2 am after having too much to drink and after having a girl in my room. The implication was that they were ready to haul me away for having illegal sex with a SW in my room. I didn't know about the condoms for sale in the mini bar, I thought they were left on the counter as part of a set up for the cops. Again, I had too much to drink and it was 2 am. Regarding my contradiction, they showed up at 2 am and then again later the same morning at 11 am to collect their fee, thus both times are in the am.

I'm an amateur for sure and you told me so. Thanks. If there's a next time I'll handle it better.

On its face, if we assume this is a true story, then the guy was scammed. The girl could have told the police she was not paid and promised to give them a cut. Though, yes 500rmb is a little low for such a scam.

Typical drill is 260 RMB/1 hr or 1. 5hr of legitimate massage with a happy ending. You pay taxi if after 10pm. The rest is not through agent, but up to you and the girl, but for most agent's most girls, they do FS at about 800rmb/1. 5 hr. You call or leave message in MSN/QQ, leave address, hotel phone number, room number, time. They will call your hotel number to confirm you are where you said you were, and then typically come within 30 mins within SH central area. Some agent might not communicate directly with you regarding FS though. But you also have to chance to get a massage at 260 rmb before deciding if you like to girl to ask FS.

Girls are typically not as skilled as in "professionally managed" places, nor as pretty, but you do have the convenience of in-room service, and girls are much less like work girl typically. The girls are also much less exploited than in establishment, where typically more than half you paid goes to the boss. Let me try another posting that might not be quite as controversial as my last one.

Just got back from Jinlin Yangshengtang Massage. It was easy to find and was a great recommendation-just as Gao Xing and Walter Mitty described. I was there at 1 pm and opted for the 100 minute men's sexual health massage for 338 RMB. It was nice not to be hassled for more before and during the massage and I tipped the girl 50 RMB. Before I left, they gave me a 50 RMB coupon for next time. Excellent!
